Golden Angelfish

I just picked one up for $50.00 and was wonder who else has this fish and do they hide all the time in your tank? I barely see mine... Always hides behind the rock work and slithers like a snake always close to a rock and never displays itself...

They will hide at first but once they get comfortable they will stay out more angels are extremely intelligent and also helps if you have smaller fish that stays out in the open like green chromis

I have not seen him literally eat... I think he eats when I feed but hidden...

I feed my tank a mix of Bryne, Mysys shrimp and Formula 2 flakes

Do you see him pick at the rocks?

Once you see him eating prepared foods I would get some Ocean Nutrition Angel Formula since it has sponges in it.

I have two in my 400G - one I've had for 4 years now and the other for just under a year. They can be difficult to get to eat, but if you have good live rock and a less aggressive mix of neighbors, they should be getting enough nutrition from the various things in and on the rocks. My newer one (a whopping 2" now) did not take prepared foods in front of me for about 3-4 months or so. It started on a crushed 1" clam and then started taking everything that I put in the tank. Good luck.

$50 dollers is good, i bought one last week and he was $120 (£80) and thats cheep for over here. There was a bit of fighting from my potters and multibar but now all threee are fine together and the golden is getting braver. I hope to see him alot more, as of yesterday it looks like he's coming out for food but i still squirt loads behind the rocks for him.

Heck, I am lucking enough to have a Potters, Golden, and venustus. The Golden is the one that has been the most difficult. It hide a lot for the first 2 weeks, but is out a lot more (( after adding the venustus )). Still haven't personally seen it eat prepared foods, but it tends to still hide when I am at the tank (( judging from its "gut" size, it is either getting a ton off the rocks, or eating the food that goes into the caves.
