Golden Dwarf Moray (Gymnothorax Melatremus)

Here's one of mine.

My phone cam doesn't like the actinic lighting either.

I don't think those are the dwarf golden's?

There is a seller on Ebay that has the dwarf's but I have no experience with the seller.

You're right...my bad...LA is selling the Golden Moray for that price, not the dwarf.

Anyone know of any other places selling the dwarves?

just get your lfs to ordee them. its not too hard to find them from a supplier, but they dont sell in small areas quickly so most lfs avoid them. if your lfs takes your name down, they should be able to get one in a couple months, usually for around 300 retail. if thats not true, then your lfs needs to step up their game and get better suppliers

Best place for dwarf goldens is probably ebay. There are a couple of divers there that will sell them direct for ~$100-125 + shipping.

Yawning and twitching are typically signs of parasites - amphipods, copepods, flukes and worms - could all be a cause. These parasites are often species specific and more of an irritant than a lethal killer. So treatment probably isn't necessary.

I have a yellow mouth and have never seen a twitch. As with all my fish, it went through a course of praziquantil, chloroquine and dimilin.

It's possible it is an external parasite, but I've never once seen anything to make me beleive that it is. I'm going to run some light prazipro treatments though to be sure since the treatment is rather safe and I seem to have a lot on hand. I'll let you guys know if I see any change in my eels behavior. Sorry for thread jacking.

Reviving this thread for a second: I believe the twitching in eels is caused by a vitamin B deficiency which causes light seizures. The reason most eels twitch is because they're predators that have trouble gaining enough B vitamins through their foods, especially those eels that are fed silversides or frozen foods often (which most are, obviously). Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on the web about this and there's only been a few studies, but I would be sure to soak any frozen foods in Vitamin B (especially B2) at least once in a while if not every feeding in order to make sure the eels are getting enough of the essential vitamins. For general knowledge, B helps break food down into usable energy (and as such is super important).
