Golden Dwarf Moray?

People have been recommending me the golden dwarf moray for a long time, it keeps coming up all the time and I feel like I should just go ahead and get it after I start working at the lfs this summer and I can save up enough store credit. My question was which tank I should put it in. I have a biocube 29 with a small clown and a flame hawk, and I'm working on a 40 breeder for a fu manchu lion and a couple of other similar fish. I originally wanted the eel for this tank but I decided to go open top. I know I could put screen on very easily, but I would be too worried about the holes I'd have to cut for the skimmer and such, since it doesn't have a sump. I also think it would look nicer in my biocube since I already have some corals in there and in terms of coral I think the 40 breeder will be much sparser, but I'd be afraid of the eel eating my clown and flame hawk (I've heard of them eating gobies and firefish) and also of overstocking. I've seen videos of them in biocubes before I'm just nervous about it. I really don't want to lose my clown since she was my first saltwater fish. I really want this eel though and I'll figure out a way to keep it.

I have two. One is larger and one is smaller. I personally don't believe they grow that quickly.

I have a pair of clowns and some other smaller fish. The eels leave them alone. So I don't think you have to worry about the clown or flame hawk.

I have my tank covered but in my experience they don't jump unless stresses to the max.

Very cool fish/eel

I think it would do just fine in a biocube. I had mine in a 2t gallon and he did just fine. They are typical of any other moray. They don't swim around much at all. So they don't need the same space a normal active fish would. Mine stayed in one or two caves 99% of his time. I only ever saw him venture out when it was feeding time.

I kept mine with small cardinals, clowns, small wrasses, chalk basslets, shrimp, and inverts and no issues. They have a small mouth and can't see them fitting any fish over 2" in their mouth.

They are an awesome fish and I'd highly recommend adding one. The biocube would be better due to the tight fitting lid. I had a screen cover on my 25 and he still found a way out onto the floor 😳

Many small fish lay on side in front of my Gymnothorax melatremus. Never test a bit of them. It is possible that they confound the eal with some cleaner?

Before you get one, make sure it eats well. I had a nearly impossible time getting mine to eat. I ended up giving him away to someone with a biocube and he got out and died.

Actually having had one, the 40 breeder would definitely be fine, and the biocube probably would too. Mine was full grown and it would have been fine in a biocube, but the 40 breeder is preferable.
