Golden Puffer Problem

Juice It

I put this in the disease section but thought maybe some of you puffer people here may know exactly what I am dealing with. Thx.

We have had this Golden puffer for 3 years now and it has been in perfect health except for a one time constipation issue. Now it seems to be growing warts that are a little smaller than a pea and a couple of them look ruptured while most are just under the skin. All together their are around 12. Now I have noticed a bump or 2 on this guy in the past and never thought anything of it. Now since he resides at my father in laws I don't see him too often but when I went over the other day I noticed many more of them and he said he has not been eating for about 2 weeks. His color still looks great and he is swimming around as normal. About 6 months ago I had this puffer moved to a local store while I moved my aquarium and he was there for over a week. He has been back in his normal tank for another 6 months and no new fish have been added in years. Water quality is great. Only thing I can come up with is some type of parasite at the local fish store but most here are more knowledgable than I. Anyone have any ideas or things I can try to help? Thanks!

Jeff

Parasite issue - there are these little isopod things that live in the gills of big puffers from Hawaii - I have seen them swarm in the bag and overwhelm these fish (HI importers chime in? You told me about this lol).

You are going to have to put him on a hosptal with copper.

They aren't in his gills though, they are all over his body, one even on a fin. I will try to post a pic.

Any ideas guys? I am drawing a blank. Hopefully someone can ID what is going on. Don't want anything to happen to him if we can prevent it. Thx.

It could be air bubles and if it is you massage them out but I AM NOT A PUFFER EXPERT and would NOT do it until some one else has confermed it because it could hurt your puffer if they aernt

They look nasty. Personally would treat with an anti-bacterial. It its bacterial it can only help, if not it should prevent any secondary infections setting in.

Puffer still has not eaten, getting close to a month. Hoping a puffer person may have seen this before. Still swimming fine and color is still normal. Thx.

No clue, but email Bob Fenner @ wetwebmedia. You can get the email address at wetwebmedia.com. If there is anyone that knows what this is, it would be him.
