Golden Pufferfish

Pulled the trigger! I have wanted one for about a year now, and the price was finally right  . Hopefully, pending some wholesaler issues get resolved, it should be here Friday. At 6" its the smallest one I've seen. My question to you guys is: Will I have a problem with it going after my smaller fish? My flagfin pair are around 2 1/2 - 3" and it sure would suck to have to rehome them for larger ones, but I sure as hell dont want the other end to happen. Thoughts?

Well you know the saying ,every fish is different ..
With that in mind my tri colored dogface doesn't bother my flamehawk or clown,or any fish for that matter

We have a mappa in the shop that's a gentle giant, until its feeding time. Really gotta watch your fingers. It was also the first fish i ever saw blink, which for some reason i still think is cool. Hopefully the golden shares the same temperament.

This gives me hope:

I have two golden puffers. They are literally big babies. They bother no one and no one bothers them either.

Puffers are usually not harassed by other fish, except for very aggressive ones.

Yeah I saw the video of your 375. They look great, even the less vibrant one. How quick was their growth? Notice any human-like behavior with either of yours?

Thanks. They are definitely puppy-like, begging for food everytime they see me. They can also get moody if you don't give them what they want.

Golden puffers usually are collected as adults already, so don't expect fast growth. My first one was 8.5" when I got him and after 1.5 years he is barely over 9".

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. At 6" It will be the smallest golden I've ever seen, so I know they come in big. Thanks!

You will really enjoy yours if you never had a puffer before. Arothron Meleagris is especially bold and outgoing. They interact with you much more than other types of fish. My wife's favorite fish is puffer and we own five of them!

Will be here "early afternoon" tomorrow along with my regal pair. They're coming when I go into work, so I'm curious how I'm gunna do this without having to acclimate twice in one day. Hopefully my boss will let me run home. Pretty stoked either way!

I love getting new fish. I removed the barrier after about an hour and the regals have yet to start fighting. In fact, every time they even turn their tails to each other, the puffer swims in between them. I know it's not on purpose, but still pretty cool...

Thanks guys! Awesome fish, has already taken to begging for food. Thankful I don't have an acrylic tank. My girlfriend says it's the first fish I've had that's more like a "pet". Is there a way to sex them? Just courious. The regals are getting along, as for now they just kind of tolerate each other. I feel like a storm is brewing haha

Doing great! Absolutely goes nutty over clams, but is eating most anything I put in the tank. Wish I could capture his true color, as he is a C.I. golden. Anyone have suggestions on a good camera? I'm fed-up with these sub-par phone pics and need to get a real camera. Something moderately priced, since the majority of it's use would be for fish...

(Correct me if I'm wrong) but Christmas Island puffers are a brighter yellow than the ones from Mexico. We get in two variants from Cortez marine (Mexican) and Apets CI and the colors are worlds different... I think sandwi has the two in a same tank for a side by side comparison
