Goldflake Angel...

I didn't think it was stress because the Bandit was eating and swimming normal throughout the time with the nip tail. His tail was healing pretty good.

Just pick up a new cell today and testing the video with only the actinics on

I Never noticed that!!! That does seem to be the problem, or at least a contributing factor!

I wonder what would cause that??? He eats great and is fed NLS thera A pellets 6-12 times daily plus he devours nori and is fed a mixture of Angel and butterfly, mysis, and spirulina Brine all soaked in vitachem, selcon, and garlic daily!!!

Maybe he has a nerve issue because it doesn't look muscular because he is still thick...

Kev- Good to see you were able to rehab the larger Goldflake back to health, it looks great. As for the newer sub-adult GF, it looks to be coming along well. The Bandits look amazing also.

I just finished setting up my new 200G Deep Dimension and the first fish in will be the Bandit that I chose not to sell. I have had it since July and it has been growing steadily and gaining weight. I will be attempting to get a juvi Bandit to join the one I have now.

Continued luck with your tank.

Ryan,

Did your GF came in swimming like that from day 1 or this behavior developed over time? I've looked over your video 4 or 5 times now and just noticed no pelvic movement either. Can you see any pelvic movement?

Is there such thing as pinched nerve in fish?

Kevin

Kev, this happened while in my tank. When i got him, He did great for about a year... Then It seemed to happen over night but i wasn't sure if i just hadn't paid that much attention...

It seems as though he doesn't use his tail at all, but every once in a while he will wiggle his tail for just a second then nothing again for a while...

I dont know of anything I can do to help him?

Thanks NexDog.

Its been 8 days since adding little GF (about 3" now) to the main display and so far she's getting along with the big boys and girls pretty well. None of the larger angels bothers her and the only one doing any chasing is the Coral Beauty. She can hold her own against the male Flame angel (4") and chases the 2 female FAs. What has surprised me so far is I haven't seen the large GF chase her and just ignores her when they cross path.

Just read this whole thread, really turns me off on getting a goldflake. I have a cryptic area in my sump where I can grow out sponges to feed, but usually only as a snack. I'll need to setup something bigger if I ever plan to keep these types of angels.

Kevin, you have an amazing stocklist! Regal, goldflake, Meredithi, blueline, bandit, bellus, does the list ever end!? Are all these in your 180g?

AquaKnight: I'll work on a vid.

1ucky: Thanks.

AngelAddict: I'd recommend patience in finding a GF from a reputable place and spend the extra money will go a long way.

I move fish around as I see fit especially when adding additional angels to the mix. Currently the 180g angel list include the following: Watanabe, Bellus, Flame angels, Coral Beauty, Venustus, Lemonpeel, Blueline, Meredithi, Regal, Flagfin and Goldflake. The Bluelines and Meredithi apairs re getting big so they probably will be split up into other tanks in the house unless I can manage the tank upgrade this year.

I recently purchased a 120g sump with sps and thinking of moving all the Centropyge angels there. Only problem is I already have a Coral Beauty in there and he's a pain with any new additions.
