Anyone have any idea why my Goniapora has suddenly decided to plump up and get huge? I'm hoping it's because it's just happy..
It's almost double the size it usually is

I don't think it's happy. Notice how many polyps are fully withdrawn. I would be more inclined to think full polyp extension indicates happiness.

I've read that they'll do this to dislodge sand and/or debris. Not sure how true that may be.

Do you dose iron? I do 4 drops a few times a week and my gonis look great

Yes, the addition of available foods flow and iron all seem to help. Careful dosing something you don't test for.

That goni is irritated by something. My gonis swelled up like balloons when I first got them. I was floating them in their bags to adjust temp and my lights were on so they were probably responding to the intense lights. They'll also swell if sand has got on them or bristle worms are crawling over them for food.

My green & purple goni will closed up the day after being fed. Mine will bloom again in a day or two.
