When I first got it, when polyps were retracted, it looked like small thin frags had been cut from another colony with some kind of saw, and glued to the rock. Yours looks big enough to frag... I've never done it though.

I have a red goni with blue centres too, my clowns live in it. Had it nearly 2 years now.

where re you guys getting these red gonis? they are awesome! Im glad to see people are having success keeping them alive, what are your feeding schedules and what foods?

I found it at a fish store in San Diego.

I feed alot, about once every 3 days. I try to vary the diet as much as possible, but here's what I fed the 20 gal tank today:
1 frozen cube "coral reef food"
1 frozen cube "reef plankton"
1/8 tsp 5-50 micron Golden Pearls
1/8 tsp spray dried spirulina powder (I also like "Tahitian Blend Algae Paste" from brineshrimpdirect)
1/4 ts Coral Frenzy
amino acid supplement (today used Chris Brightwell--I like his stuff)
1 thumbnail size chunk of a homemade frozen food loosely based on Eric Borneman's recipe & Pappone. (I don't use the growth hormone called for in Pappone, but I do have access to Somatropin, and other synthetics)

I turn off sump return pump, mix it up well with tank water before "polluting the tank". Turn pump back on after ~45 minutes.

Note: my 20 frag tank is plumbed into a larger system with a big skimmer. I slowly worked up to this level of food. It's all about balancing the system, and increasing slowly is good.

heres one I had but had to sell because it got too big. Its on swf.com page for thier red gonis they sell. it won their photo contest.

I just got one a week ago to replace it (finally) ordered it from reefhotspot.

here she is the first day I got her but she is opened much more now. My camera battery is dead Ill charge it and get a better pic. I LOVE goni. I think they like dirty water because Im terrible about feeding alot of filter foods and mine always thrived. Maybe they prefer more nutrient saturated water.

the top pic (isnt really the greatest) was a sony cybershot point and shoot.

the second (my new goni) was taken with my canon rebel eos xt (dslr) I use the auto settings mostly because this cam is kinda complicated lol

And here's one more to the mix of pics....had this one about a week now, feeding a mix of cyclopeez/reef roids mix with tank water 3x per week so far.

Goniopora.org (I think someone mentioned before) does have a lot of good info.

This one is also hot pink with purple centers around the mouth. I think (?) it may be a Goniopora pearsoni.

I have the same species and it looked like crap when I got it too. Mine was all orange with dull blue centers now it looks like yours.

i just got myself a nice goni thats beginning to open up as I type this so hopefully by tonight or tomorrow ill have more full extension to show off

here is my new red one I have had about a month, he eats well and even closes up on brine shrimp and bloodworms so I shoot some his way. I add cyclops to the tank and occaisionally 'roti-rich' rotifiers.

I think Im going to pick up some of that coral frenzy that everyone raves about... Ive never tried it.

Anyway, goni has always been one of my favorites

After doing some research (and finding this thread on a search) I purchased a tennis-ball sized colony of this red. I feed my tank fairly heavily anyhow (lots of cyclops) so tossing in some phyto for good variety isn't hard at all.

I just picked mine up yesterday so it's not fully expanded yet, so no pics but it looks identical to the post above.

Later today I'll be reading this entire thread, thanks for all the info guys!!
