Hey,

I have a small pink goniopora. I just add large blue one.

My pink one is thriving, but i really want to be sure that my new one will grow.

Can you give advices about this coral. (Food, light, how many time a week it need to be feeded...etc)

I know that gonipora are not the hardiest corals...So, i want to everything that i can.

(Sorry for the quality of my english)

i have a ora red one that i brought back from the dead .they like medium movement placed on the sandbed and they also like medium to strong lighting.they like the iron content in youre water high this was a hint that my friend who has some of the nicest goni's i have ever seen told me now you dont need to believe me but it works.get a kit that lets you test iron if on the high side youre tank is perfectif not dose a lttle a day to get it on the high side.iron is needed for photosythasis and gonis are hard to feed so keeping the zoo very happy and functioning very important.also do not over skim youre waterthis helps them absorb somemore nutrients.also a fuge helps but is not needed.start feeding dt's or oysterfest mixed with a high quality or live phytoplankton evr day or every other day and as they get healthy and adjust to youre tank this takes months to year with goni because they live on reserves if not happy this is why they look good for awile then receede.then feed lobster eggs and chopped mysis.evr 3 days along with some phyto mixed in.you might not believe me about the iron or everything else but my goni pops out babies once a month and eats whole mysis now just like a snake would he catches em and shoves them down it is so cool watching it go down the polyp stalk like a mouse.i now people say they dont see thier goni tacking food and mine didnt at first eather you just train them or get them healthy enough to eat long term.mine is a couple years old now and when he was given to me he was dead and covered in algea one day with a mexican turbo and he was clean but only one tentacle came out not even a full polyp and all the skin on coralite was gone .i still broadcats feed oysterfeast wich all my corals love.you will see some kind of feeding response with this and phyto mixed i say 50 percent oysterfeats or dt's and 50 percent phyto to start.i am a firm believer in the iron dosing my corals have never looked better color wise and health since dosing also the cheato grows out of control in my fuge.i no people will say you can get all this from water changes but not everyone can do so many changes or have the money to buy all that salt and i have tested the iron content on a couple of salt mixes when i made the water and it is very low.gl

Thank !

I am doing a 10 to 15% WC weekly. And i will get some Oyster Feast !

I have an ORA red one as well. I keep mine on the sandbed with medium to high flow. The coral has extended its polyps since day one and always been one of my favorites. Mine has blue eyes on the end of the polyps! I keep 2 T5
and 250w Metal halides. I broadcast feed oysterfeast once a week or so. I target feed with otohime once or twice a week. I also broadcast feed phyto every few days. Throw in some rotifers every now and again. Water changes about 25% every 2 weeks or so. Good luck

I am running activate carb 24/7. I hope that will help against alleopathy

it will be fine it only seems to happen on rare cases but it does .i had a branching bubble just 2 inches down stream from him and it wouldnt open and then i moved within minuits it opened full.and i had some orange people eater paly's in the same spot and it melted them .but if it 3 invhes out it seems not to bother anything just charges its tentacle tips white with neomocysts.gl i love my red goni and i no its thriving cause it was dead when i got it.in my opinion they are one of my favs them and branching alveopora, trachy's,dunkins, bubbles, blasto's,and acans.i used to like frogspawn but they seem to drop tentacles every once and awile at night when splitting and they allways landed on my bubble or open brains and they are so ptent it just ate threw them like acid and i was starting to get ****ed so he whent by.lol

i got mine from a freind that killed it,he paid 100$ for it.my branching alveopora is ora to from same shipment but i got that alve and he got the goni but i ended with both for the price of the alve im going to give him a baby when the next is big enough to drop i just lifted him a little of the sand showing a little bottom rock so it should be no time till he cover it .he just ate a couple of mysis to.i dont feed the alveopora any spot feeding and growth is great you cant even tell its a big rbanch .i cant wait to get my camera.just have to catch those babies b4 they blow away im affaid to cut one off.

i also have some great stores by me that have some good stck but pricy.in the winter though i dont like to ship and honestly havent had the best of luck and to see the coral in person is worth the extra cash and they all have great sales like buy one get half of another.is that arnold in youre avatar?i saw this tiny nano elegance today i for 49$ i wish i had space i mean its tiny to his shell is pencil sice and the polyp is as big as a blasto no kidding .worth to grow big .

Great read and advice to follow, I have been feeding the same as above with great results.
Phyto
Osterfeast
Roti
And powder mixes

every now and then when i clean live main lobsters i get females with some roe sacks in their body and my goni whent nuts for them infact all my corals did dont no were to get that though im sure i could if i looked but dont have the cash thet would run oyster feast is pricy to.but if you get some live lobster and are splitting them alive not cooked allready and you see those red sacks takem out and freezem right away and keeps some out for feeding right away you wont be sorry.
