Gonipora question

Hi All,

I have had my Gonipora for about 4 months now and has been looking really healthy and growing well, just recently though, it does not come out as much, it tends to only have about half of its polyps extended and these are only at half the length they used to be, is this something to worry about or is it normal for them to go like this? my perams are a little high (nitrate and amonia) But they are very stable my Nitrates are about 30 but have been for 6 months or more!.
I had done a 40% Water change 2 weeks back as i had a cleaner wrasse and a chalk goby die and was not able to find them, i assumed my shrimp had them for lunch.
I will do another water test tonight to see what its saying.

First, any ammonia reading is bad. You need to fix that ASAP or else you will continue to lose coral and fish. Goniopora are a difficult coral to keep long term. They need very stable water perams and will react to the slightest change in tank conditions, including light. You also need to feed with very small foods like cyclopeeze or oyster feast. They will sometimes retract for a few days but should be back to full extension in less than a week.
