Hey Guys,
Have had this piece for about a week. It was fully open and extended at LFS.. They had it under HQI and low down in there tank. What you see is about the most extension I can get. I have the piece about Mid way in the tank. Running LED Lighting, 3 108 Watt Fixtures. Blue and white Mixed... Tank is 30 Inches High....

Any help greatly appreciated. I am feeding my tank Cyclops and Phyto Plankton... Too much flow? It's indirect flow...

Just my opinion - it looks like the goni gets somewhat buffeted from time to time...
they like flow - but nothing too abrupt...

I agree with you.... It's a very random flow... I've hade it for a week, and can't get full extension. Nothing is bothering it and my water chemistry is good...

I may lower it down to the sand today... It is half way up and prolly 24-30 inches away from the led's...

Thoughts on placement??

I have mine very low. I don't have it on the sand just up on a lower rock and it seems to like it there. It gets very mild flow... more flow than a frogspawn or hammer coral would like.

So I moved the Goni down to my sand, still getting same extension... Maybe 1/4 at best... I'm feeding tank cyclops, oyster eggs, phytoplankton and regular foods for the tangs...

Should I target feed? And blow the food right on the Goni's tentacles?

Thx,
Steve

give it a couple days to get used to it's new spot. I target feed mine so you could try that. Just be careful not to "shoot" the coral with food as it will retract. you want to gently blow food into the polyps. you will know it's grabbing on when the polyps close up like a little flower :)

I'd bet its not a feeding issue and in your panic to save this beautiful creature, u may over feed your tank and create other problems.

Try dosing iron and maganese.

Its probably still settling in, give it more time. Mine did the same thing for the first few weeks, before fully extending. Just give it some time.

Just wondering. Did you dip it in a solution like coral rx before you put in in your tank?. I got one a couple of months ago and I skipped that step. Later realize that it was being caused by flat worms that were feeding on the coral.

It probably (could be) that is carrying a couple of flatworms gonipora eaters. Did yoou notice any red traces around it?
