Gooches tank 150g

This favite is my new addition. After carefully inspecting and squirting the undersurface with RO, I found it had an aptasia anemone. I had to pull it back out and dig that sucker out. Then I rinsed it again. Hopefully, the aptasia won't grow back.

Thanks for the compliments. The BTA's stay on the rock they came on but if one ever moves off, I will return the rock and it's remaining anemones back to the lfs for credit on other corals.

Well, flatworm exit didn't work (as I was told by others on another thread) I saw a few in the fuge that I siphoned out. BTW, I don't think siphoning them is so easy. The airline tubing doesn't create that much suction especially since the sump is only 3 inches from the floor there's not much gravity action going on there. I also found an aptaisia in the fuge. Tomorrow I will use my acrylic sponge cleaner and try to wipe it off the surface of the fuge.

Also checked my levels 2 days after water change. Calcium =400 and kH=9.6 I want to increase the Ca but I wonder if increasing the bubble count on the reactor or increasing the flow from the calcium reactor will work best.

I am down to one GBTA. Brought the original rock with the remaining 4 back to the store and traded for these.

don't know what this is. Some kind of monty cap perhaps?

the algae to the left of this coral keeps getting missed by the darn snails. It is the only spot with algae in my entire tank. Disappears when lights are out only to come back with bubbles. Probably cyano.

Darn BTA moved all the way to the back of the tank behind a hundred pounds of live rock. One clown find it's way to it but the smaller clown is lost and looks sooo lonely. Now I'm sorry I returned the rock with the other BTA's. On the other hand, they could all be wandering around the tank by now.

Well, I'm hoping the anemone will move back out.

I've had blue green chromis in QT for 3 weeks now. I'm waiting for them to grow big enough to eat mysis and not immediately go in the overflow. They only eat cyclopeze and crumbled flakes. I started with 9 and lost 2 the first week. I hope to have them in the display by Thanksgiving.

These are my latest additions. i really have to start making my own salt water. I'm too much of an impulse buyer as far as corals are concerned.

I got this one the day before, an echinophylia

I also moved my clam onto the rock because it kept falling on it's side when I had it on the sand. I read that crocea clams are found on rocky crevices in nature

Rodi

Rodi

I set up my typhoon extreme III today. I have it outdoors connected to a garden hose (potable kind). I housed it in a rubbermaid bin because it comes with an in line digital TDS meter with alarm and I didn't want it to get rained on. I had air water & ice place opaque white housing instead of clear to protect from algae, I know, kind of redundant. My RODI water goes to a 30 gallon brute and will be mixing 25 gallons salt water at a time. I went as far as getting a scale so I could divide the salt mix in equal parts for later use. The waste water drains to the swimming pool. So far, I am not happy with the float valve the unit came with.

ASM G3 mod

ASM G3 mod

Also decided to work on my needle wheel mod by cutting the pins off the impeller, cutting enkemat (2 layers)to fit, and zip tying it on. Waiting until after Thanksgiving to try it out.

Looking good so far. I don't think that G3 is going to serve you well in the long run though especially on that large of a tank. If you decide to replace it I highly recommend the i-Tech's.

Good luck with the tank as it is looking really nice.

You are right, so far I hate the ASM G3. Hard to adjust with the stand pipe and either produces nothing or fills up quickly with clear water. I've also seen no difference after the impeller mod

Mystery of the disappearing chromis has begun. Put in 7 two weeks ago and when I came back from Thanksgiving holiday, down to 6. I bet one of the anemone's had a good meal.
