Brrightwell NeoMarine Salt sucks

Brrightwell NeoMarine Salt sucks

I discovered the fuel source for the hair algae problem I had. I found that a fresh batch of brightwell neomarine has 0.5 ppm phosphates in it. Which is why my algae problem began when I started using this salt in December and algae grew after water changes. Now i run phosgaurd when mixing new salt water until phosphate is zero before doing my water change. I will change salt mixes when I use this batch up.

11 months and I did a light bulb change on my ATI PM 8X80W. From front to back, I went from
ATI Blue+
ATI 12K Aqua Blue Special
KZ Fiji Purple to ATI Blue +
ATI BLue + to GE 6700K
Blue + to KZ Fiji purple
KZ Fiji purple to ATI 12K Aquablue special
Aquablue special to Blue +
Blue +

The 1st number are the old bulbs after being on for 2 hours and the 2nd number is after 1 1/2 hours on with the new bulbs. I also raised the fixture by adding a 3/4 block of wood under the lights.

I'm just about to replace my lights as well, so this was perfect timing for these readings. Did you replace all the bulbs at once, or little by litter over a few days?

I suppose that raising the fixture has the same effect..

(we officially have exactly the same bulb setup now too!)

I changed them all at once because the fixture is so heavy and I can't move it myself. (I'm only a girl afterall). I had one of the guys from the LFS help me. I cut down the photoperiod with all lights on to an hour and am increasing an hour a day. I think that the differences in PAR are negligible and don't think it should cause a problem but I did it just to be safe.

I lost my yellow tang in March and i really missed having a yellow splash of color so i replaced with a mimic lemon peel

I just past the 1 year mark july 22. I seem to do better with sps and very bad with LPS. Why is it that certain corals thrive in my tank and others die?

Congrats on the 1 year mark. Your tank looks great, and I really like the 60x24x24 dimensions. Did you do starfire glass on both sides and the front?

Thank you, and yes, it's starfire on front and sides.

Found my first aiptaisia tonight. It's small so I'll try and cover it with purple epoxy.

I hope the clam does well. I just cleaned off my sandbed, so I think the next thing I add might be a clam or some LPS as well. I'll watch to see how yours does!

Have you ever had a clam before this?

This is my 2nd long tentacle plate. The other perished in the too bright lights. I've placed it in an area protected from the lights and strong currents. It's plate is green and the tips of the tentacles pink.

Also got another crocea. This is the same clam under different lighting conditions

this one cost me 60 bucks. It is the same clam. The top taken using a flash, the bottom with the T5's.
I also got a fox face. I can't seem to keep a yellow fish. I've lost a yellow tang and a mimic lemon peel tang, and now haven't seen my yellow watchman goby in over a week

Nice growth on those SPS! Everything but my monti's grows really slowly - my montipora grow like weeds!

How is your foxface doing?
