well here is my story i got a 55 gallon tank about 4 months ago transfered my clown pair i had for 3 years and a fire fish from my old 20 gallon, so i add a royal gramma without qt ( I KNOW ) and ick kills everything in the tank including my beloved clown pair. so i got a yellow watchman goby and a scribble rabbitfish that i cant seem to get rid of it, it goes and comes but never worsen or lessen its just there i've tried a cin. clown but he moved on with the lord a week later. so i've heard that uv sterilizers can sometimes rid the tank of ick while its in the water is there any truth in this? and should i invest in one?

I kept my tank at a constant 82 degrees F for a few days after a breakout a couple years back, and it never spread past the one angel.

i know all that, but i have no room for a hospital tank any other suggestion, i got two fish a watchman goby and rabbitfish with one coral banded shrimp and a number of snails in a 55 gall tank?

I think it worked for me. I don't have a QT either. I have a one spot rabbitfish that always seemed to have a few ich spots. It never broke out to be a real bad case. At the time, I only had a perc clown and mandarin that were not affected. I plumbed an Aqua UV 15 watt to an mj1200 powerhead on my 65g tank. After about 6-8 weeks, no more ich spots on the rabbit.

The UV does add 1-2 degrees to the tank temp though.
