Good growth, not the greatest color HELP!!!

Ok! So i fragged a piece of my tri color nana from ed and it has been about 6-7 days now and the tissue has already healed completely over. I dont know if that is fast but i thought it was. I dont have the best color in my tank though. I notice that ill get a frag from someone and in my tank the colors dont stay as vibrant. Any help would be awesome.

what type and how many watts is your lighting?

In most cases where somone has had poor color, also usualy has low nutrient level. If your aquarium is very clean then feed more or add more fish. Corals will recieve alot of light energy but need the nutrients form wast and food to process that energy. If that is not the case then you should shorten your photoperiod by a couple of hours and see if that helps.

I run 2 250W phoenix MH for 8 hours i have 5 skunk cleaners 3 blood cleaners 1 pink spot shrimp goby paired with a tiger pistol shrimp 1 small abt. 2" hippo tang 1 2-3" fire fish 1 1.5-2" ocellaris 1 3-4" pearl scale angel. i feed once a day and not really that much. I run a 20gal fuge and a ASM G-3 and its a 90gal tank.

Are you feeding the corals. I like cyclopees, reefplankton, and reef stew from ATR. I feed the corals every other day.

I add about 6-7 drops of the reef nutrition's phyto feast (not live) and a few drops of Kent zoo plankton with prime reef flake and some frozen foods. I also add one drop of Kent extreme garlic.
about twice a week i feed some Artic pods. Fish go absolutely nuts

I don't think that sps get much from the phyto feast or zoo plankton, but they do from the artic pods. Are these the little oranges ones? If they are I would use more often.

yeah the orange ones that look like amphipods. How often would you suggest?

arctipods and cyclopzeeze are too big for SPS. Phyto may and it is just may help by encouraging bacterial growth the sps feed on. Try feeding oyster eggs or a very finely minced seafood mush to your fish. The very smallest particles would also serve a coral food. And I love the reef stew although after my wrasses get done I'm not sure too much is left for the corals.

Phil also recommended adding Amino Acids for my poorly colored corals. I've only been dosing Amino Acids for a couple of weeks but I'm starting to see some of my corals begin to color back up.

I was told that most corals produce almost all the amino acids they need and the ones that are for supplementation are ones they already produce. Now im not saying it wont or cant help with coloring them up thats just what i heard.

Yeah I hear that too. But pigments are composed of amino acids and corals have been shown to uptake aminos. You'll hear lots of people say you don't need them but get a small bottle and see for yourself.

i did just this and will never again go back too not using them.
i dose with TM pro-coral A- elements and TM pro-coral K+ elements. here are some pictures to show the difference.

Break your photo period into two 4 hour sessions with a few hours dark in between. to much light to long. Nana hides from intense light. Stags however, love it.

While the actual pods themselves in Arcti-Pods are too large for SPS, the minor oil leakage that makes the media orange is filled with aminos, fatty acids, etc.

The recommended Reef Nutrition product for SPS would be Roti-Feast.
