Good herbivores?

I'm looking for suggestions for a good grazer for my sps dominated reef.

I have a power blue tang that has been with me for 3.5 years, but he has recently developed a taste for my squamosa clam and that wont do... but with my tang gone, im sure his algae eating habits will be missed.

I'm a little paranoid about tangs and clams now. does anyone have any good suggestions for a medium sized grazing fish that will leave my clams and acros alone?

Blennies have been known to munch on clams and coral.

I cant think of a grazer that I haven't heard reports of corals getting nipped/eaten

My Kole and yellow tangs actively search for algae, as does my starry blenny. They don't disturb my clams either. But no one fish species can be truly guaranteed to be reef safe, as individuality and luck has a bit to do with it. I've also read that rabbitfish are good herbivores, but may go after zoanthids.

How much algae do you have, and how much do you feed? If this is a super clean SPS tank with no algae, and you don't feed enough, I'd worry that just about any recommendation may start munching on corals and such.

Lawnmower blenny will handle that for you..................yellow tang.

My lawnmower blenny eats 24/7 and my tank has never looked better since i have purchased him. plus he was like 12 bucks at petco on sale, so you can't really beat that! and no he has never gone near any of my coral, EVER!

I have a lawnmower blenny that killed my six line wrasse, my blue spotted jawfish(ouch) and a sea hare. never lets my mini maxis eat by stealing the shrimps chunks and playing with them, terrorized my elegance coral and never eats hair algae. he only eats flakes, surface algae and meat. I so want to trap that dude and give him back to the lfsbut then he would be someone elses problem.
