Good Info....too much drama.

I haven't posted in about a month...one, because of personal issues and illness, but two...because every time I come here, I find that a harmless post with good intentions develops into more drama than I find in my job....I AM A STAGE MANAGER FOR PROFESSIONAL THEATER in Rochester. That should tell you something.

And it kind of makes me sad. Seriously. Admittedly, we are all very, very passionate about this hobby...this love of ours...and I think we all have a right to discuss where, when and how we came across something that made reefing easier or more pleasant for us. It is disturbing to see a thread go from a simple, "hey, check this out" to being closed in a matter of days because of misinterpretations and pride.

I love the information on this site. I love that I can find others who are as deeply involved with our little box of ocean as I am...but I don't want to feel embarrassed in my own home, in front of my computer for people who are bashed or get dragged into a heated conversation that they weren't even a part of to begin with....come on, folks!

Life is too short.
In the words of REO Speedwagon:

"So if you're tired of the same old story
oh, turn some pages
I will be here when you are ready
to roll with the changes....."

HERE HERE!! Well put Ms. Kat! I just watched Wicked over the weekend, an absolutely amazing musical. Stage Manager is one busy job, man oh man.

I don't know... I risk putting my two cents in here, but I'll just say it.

There's bashing...
then there's reverse bashing...
then there's the silent non-bashers but then they'll stab you in the back...
Then there's non-basher I exclude people cause I'm better than you...
on and on...

I'm concluding there is a little drama queen in everyone. I don't think I'd sweat it. People have bad days, people sometimes don't come across the way they should in type, and some people are having a plain ol' bad year... or life.

Eh... who cares.... let it go.

exactly. but if I want drama queens? I've got 'em all day long, all year long in my job. There's nothing worse than coming home from 12+ hours at the theater with a bunch of actors in the spotlight and finding it on a forum. just sayin'.

back to beer.....

my 2 cents:

messageboards = drama. it's just the nature of the beast. I've posted on a lot of forums. it's not going to ever stop no matter how much people complain about it. if it honestly makes you sad, then maybe hanging out on messageboards is not something that you're going to enjoy all the time. I try to find the humor in it.

this thread itself is ironically dramatic. it fits right in. I mean, sorry, but it's true.

only because people MAKE IT THAT WAY. my original post:

"And it kind of makes me sad. Seriously. Just for the record...my intent was NOT to turn this into a "drama thread", which it has become. But it does show me that there are a few out there that agree with me...and that's enough to warrant a good look into how we approach subjects, and keeping it accurate and pleasant for everyone...without implementing innocent bystanders with misconceptions and misinterpretations. That is when the drama comes into play...and believe me....I deal with actors every single day...I know when someone is upstaging someone else.

Sorry if that came across abruptly...because...as anyone can tell you...I am about the most positive, cockeyed optimist around...full of love, respect and admiration for everyone...because there is GOOD IN EVERYONE...we just need to see it, embrace it and not let us deter us from why we come to this forum to begin with....WE LOVE THIS HOBBY.

I think if there's one thing alot of us can agree on, it's that Dinosaur BBQ is awesome!

Well, here we go. Even that needs to be qualified. Ya see, I only agree with you half way. I enjoyed my last meal at the Syracuse location immensely. My last visit to the Rochester local will likely be my last.

Now, back to the beer (IPA please).
