Good LFS

tropical aquarium is on pearl road(route 42) on the west side of the street about a 1/2 mile south of route 303 in brunswick. it is in a plaza right next to a karate place and across the street from a gas station. youll know when hes open if you see a red truck with the tropical aquarium sign on the side top of the owners truck.

Hector, the owner of tropical aquarium got a new shipment of fish and corals in today....they should be ready for sale tomorrow, Friday...

brunstuckyjoe, I am not sure of your connection, but you need to stop with the continual "stock' updates.

Be careful at Aquatic Technology, look your fish over vary carefully.
I bought a couple of Anthias, and the lady that worked there (bosses daughter) had some trouble netting them out, I believe a piece of rock must of fallen on it, I didn’t notice it at first. I went home and put it in my hospital tank. The next day I saw this big hole in its side. The next day it was dead. I called them at told him what must of happen. He asked her about it and she denied it. And wasn’t interested in even giving me a replacement, and I spent hundreds of $ on coral there. Thing they would want to take better care of there customers. So I guess just make sure you check em even after there in the bag!

Every fish I've bought at Troprical Aquarium hasn't lasted longer then a month...Including the new Clown tang I got right before Disco reefer went in to get it :( I guess I have bad luck there. Never had that issue though at any other local stores.

BrianD, i like the stock update that brunstucky post. I live 30 miles away and it is nice to have an unbias opinion of the inventory and general condition of the store. Do the rules apply equally to someone that bashes a store constantly? People helping people is a good thing in this hobby IMO. If ytou are getting complaints, perhaps those that complain have an axe to grind. My .02

Thanks, Amigo....I have no affiliation with Hector, other than the fact I've been pleased with his fish....I didn't know I was offending anyone by my comments....just trying to save people who live far away the gas money....I visit A.T. also....I'm just addicted to the hobby....not trying to promote anyone or anything in particular. Also, I try not to bash any mom and pop business trying hard to make it in this tough economy...just trying to promote the hobby.

I am not sure who, or if, anyone is complaining. I don't think the issue was with your review of TA.I think what red flagged it by the mods is most of the replies to that particular post were stock updates. Personally I like the updates b/c I live so far away. I don't think you had any malintent. However, keep in mind that Reef Central is particularly sensitive (and rightfully so) to indirect advertising as they have paying sponsors that pay serious money for ads. Honestly, at the risk of sounding like I am suckiong up, without those ads, I doubt they would be able to run a site of this size for free.

Our longest lived fish, believe it or not , are from RMS in Middleburg. That being said they are damsels....horrible, mean spirited damsles....and they don't carry much else besides yellow tangs....We've also had mostly good luck with Dan at Salty and Serdar at Phishy. I've had hit or miss luck with Hector (One was my fault I didn't think a yashia goby could get through light grate)..he always makes sure things eat...and once even decided not to sell me a fish because he thought it looked sick...and the advantage to Hector is that he will order anything for you. However...It's definitely a store where you need to call before you make the drive though. I've had pretty bad luck with what I've gotten from AT, but Scott got a great butterfly there a while back that's still making its way around the club. Aquatic Adventures is ethically questionable at best (I don't agree with some of their offerings to hobbyists....or keeping epaulette sharks in tiny tanks) Overall I think Phishy and Salty have given us the greatest success

Another place to investigate is Something's Fishy. It's on State right near 480. It's a fish store and coffee shop. They are trying to get back into salt....most of their business is installs....but they are pretty cool, and we got our first batch of LR from them a few years ago.. Very small store....hope it stays afloat in this economy.

And then there's the club members....and the club raffle every month.

Good luck, and post pictures.

Jennifer

If you don't mind a 30 min. drive to Akron, Two Turtles is a great shop, they have lots of things, and if they don't have what your looking for they can usually get it for you, and the staff are good.
