Good News from Reef-Life!

Speckled Grouper

Sticks Suck!
They got their permits and Patrick thinks they'll be in their new store within 60 days.

Also, they had the most gorgeous corals today I have seen in a long time, giant brains, awesome acros and beautiful zoas. It almost killed me that I couldn't buy anything, but I have to restrain myself until I complete my big tank move :(

But definitely worth a visit this weekend!

I am going there tomorrow, hopefully they do have some nice stuff... I heard they are going to be changing the store alot with the move... like selling statues of fish/coral, and t-shirts and all this other stuff, I think he should just try and focus more on the fish and coral as thats what is going to really sell.

Statues sit on shelves, T-Shirts hang on hooks, Wall hangings well they hang on walls. The only distraction from our core business will be the time it takes to dust them.

I have a large store with a very large overhead so I need to take advantage of every inch of wall space to sell products.

Thus far I'm $50k invested in new systems and $8k in decor products. You do the math and I think you'll see I'm very committed our core business of selling fish and corals.

What makes a good store great is what it does to set itself apart from it's competition.

We are in a small warehouse with a large inventory. Our new location should be open July 1. It's in Cooper City at Griffin Rd & Pine Island.

Ditto for a good store... He's got good quality fish, good quality corals, good prices on both... and one of the best stony coral selections around. Can't wait to see the new store, although it'll be a little trek for me.

I don't think this was a lfs trying to get PR( commercial in nature ) this was one of us promoting the opens so it wouldn't fall under that heading.
I think we are all excited about a nice new store opening in our area.

Good luck reef life

I was not necessarily referring to the original intent of the thread.

I can understand the excitement (and expense) of opening a new store. However responding to posts asking more than basic questions (hours, location, opening date) could be construed as advertising. If one has a financial interest in the success of a commercial venture please be sure to post within the constraints of the user agreement [ua].

Good Luck with the new store

I'm trying to figure out what was in violation of Rc rules... was it my post? I was trying to help the people here, not necessarily the store. It's getting hard to find a good store around here without driving 1/2 hour each way. That being said, good luck Patrick!

Not to attempt to trivialize the "moderator's" input but you guys have way too much time on your hands.

All I was trying to do was to reply to a post that assumed we were changing our core business structure. If you continue to read the thread you will see that my other reply was to explain that we're out of space and very cramped. If you look at all 5 of my posts since 2002 you'll see that I usually just sit back read a lot.

If my intent were to advertise, I could have listed prices or maybe offered an e-coupon or better yet PM'd everyone online. Not everyone has an ulterior motive interlaced in their posts. The definition as described above leaves a lot of undefined grey area.

So Chris, do you agree that basically, a commercial member is not offered an easy path of communication with other members through these forums? That it becomes way too easy for anyone to interpret any communication other than a "Hey how are you doing?" from a commercial member to a non-commercial member as advertising? What if instead a "Hey how have you been I haven't seen you in the store in a while, you missed some really cool stuff" were typed? Couldn't that be construed as a form of advertising? I'll bet it would. Let's go one further and let's ponder what could happen if a non-commercial member wasn't particularly fond of either the thread. the establishment or it's staff, couldn't the member simply click on the refer this thread to a moderator button and get the whole review process started?

If you look at the top of the page you'll see that it's our customers who are supporting us and that it is they that have given us the very best form of advertising, word of mouth! And for that I am very appreciative.

Loosen up, life's way too short :)

Pat, I agree it is difficult for you to communicate on this forum about your business since you are not a sponsor. I have seen many users "removed" from reef central due to commercial post and hate to see any more go. In general reef cntral sticks to it's user agreement. In my opinion it's probably best not to mention the business at all on this forum unless you want to become a sponsor. See ya at the store. Drop by a meeting too!
