Good News!!!!

LOL!!! The tank is spread out over 5 feet any ways! If the apartment is that weak its time to move before you bring home a large person (Lady)... LOL... Its a good test before you become a good wingman! Just my thoughts! LOL...Go Big, but don't bring the Big ones to your home! HAHAHAHA...

If my calculations are right the weight distrabution would be roughfly 130 lbs per square foot. That means you would not even be able to bring home pamala Anderson without the risk of her falling through the floor.

8 lbs per gallon times 55 gallons = 440 lbs

440 plus 80 for tank and stand = 520 lbs

520 lbs divided by 4 ( 4 foot tank ) = 130

If cost is a concern, go smaller. It costs a lot more dough to run larger tanks. Water changes are bigger, pumps are bigger, ore lights, more coral, bigger accidents.

I like the look of rimless cube tanks. Like the Solana 34. You can also get a 24" cube, those are cool and hold about 50 gallons.

Cubes look better for corals. Long tanks are better for fish.

I agree Cerreta, larger costs, larger water changes, larger pumps etc but........LARGER REWARDS!!

You can always find reasons not to do something, but this is a hobby and I think you have to keep striving further in the hobby or else it will become mundane. If people didnt strive and challenge themselves in this hobby we wouldn't have alot of the technology and education we have now.

People who like cars for a hobby don't go to pick one out at the junk yard because its cheap. They go for the their favorite car and the best one for their money. They wouldn't say, "Hey I will take that Dodge Neon instead of that Dodge Viper because the neon is better on gas mileage, and it has a small gas tank, and maintenance is cheaper." No way, if that is your hobby, you take the Viper!

I have had my 125g in my double-wide MH for 3 years. It is on a stand that has 12 2x4 legs to support the weight and it has held up well enough. I can feel some undulation where the legs are, but so far, so good. I can only imagine that an apartment floor is stronger than a 1998 mobile home.

# 50-cool! I started to hang out here preparing to make the leap into SW. I guess I should upgrade my experience to 3 years now.
