Good T5 Combo for color?

Hello Everyone,

Currently I have a 6 bulbs 54 watts Sunpower. Lets just pretend for now that my water chemistry is good and the export and import are good as well.. and just focus on the light combo.
I have the following bulb combo

FRONT
Coral +
Blue +
Purple +
Aquablue Special
Coral +
Blue +
BACK

Is this a good combo to bring out the color in SPS? I really like Red Planet but my Red Planet isn't red at all.. I read somewhere online that the Purple + might actually prevent the red color from coming out. Not sure how much of the truth is that. Anyway I was thinking of changing that combo to this one. I will replace that Purple with a Blue +

FRONT
Blue +
Coral +
Blue +
Aquablue Special
Coral +
Blue +
BACK

What do you guys think?
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
I don't mind the tank look white or blue. Don't really care as long as the sps color up.

Thanks

Run one White bulb and have the rest as Blue+ and Pure Actinic with the higher ratio toward Pure Actinic. I run this on a full SPS system with good results. Actinic deserves more credit!

You can find any opinion you like and plenty of people to support it online. That doesn't mean it's based in fact.

The purple + bulb was designed to accent red in corals. Do you really think ATI would offer a bulb that would diminish the growth of the color the bulb is designed to improve ? It's not logical nor would it be profitable to try and sell.

Here's ATI's support faq to try and help choose a bulb combination. Notice that the purple + is in every recommended combination except for one.

Red Planet is a coral that adapts highly to it's environment, light and flow will cause it to encrust, branch or both. Color will be mostly red in high light placement and there will be more green between the corallites in lower light placement. It's also a coral that can take a long time to start growing and develop color.

You've got plenty of blue in your bulb combination. The blue + bulb is the bluest bulb ATI offers, the Actinic mainly causes corals to fluoresce. It is good for growth but it's not necessary with what you already have.

If you want your RP to be more red try placing it closer to the light.

You combo of bulbs will be great for good coral growth and color. Just be patient. SPS can take weeks if not months to adapt to a new tank.
