Gorg frags

hey to everybody we havent talked to in a long time... school and work have been a drag, we wish we could make a club meeting but weekends are basically the only days we can work outside of school.....

anywho...

We're going to prune our gorg thats been chillin in our low light-holding tank, and we're looking to sell 5-8" frags for $20. We live in Cedar Rapids, but go to school in Iowa City so can meet anywhere in these areas. Money will finally get our show tank up and pumping, after a year of planning.

Here is a pic

We will be selling off the long branches and keeping the trunk because the new tank has 'alot' of flow to knock those branches around.

Here is a pic of the new tank, all she needs is bulkheads and the holes routed larger... fun...

Thanks for lookin'

I might be interested and I'm in Cedar Rapids.

Are these difficult to keep? What's involved?

Thanks!

this is a photosynthetic gorg, really easy to care for

we don't really feed it but i'm sure it grabs stuff from the tank when we feed our trachy or when we clean the algea off of the glass.

we had one of the yellow with red spots gorgs and that one was impossible to keep alive with feedings, this one is basically the opposite.

years ago we got it as a hitchhiker and made it through the mail with no water. at one time our coral beauty angel was nipping at it so we took him out and it has been growing like crazy ever since.

right now it is under actinic light that gets some sunlight in the morning so its used to pretty low light levels and you may want to aclimate it to your tank, it was under 250watts of metal halide when the old tank was in its glory and it was healthy

What size of tank are you setting up? look's like you are going with t-5s? I'm looking forward to see the progress

its a 50 long, same footprint as the 75 regular but shorter, going barebottom, calc reactor w/ co2 and skimmer can be seen in the photo, its running 8 t5s and it has a iwaki 55 w/ the ocean motions 4-way... but thats a different thread a different day

you'll have to come check it out once its up and running

oh thats sound dampening on the inside of the stand to muffle the iwaki 55 and the iwaki equivalent running the skimmer

How many frag pcs do you have? I could possibly meet you in Iowa City this weekend. I am interested in at least one piece.

Gorgo Frag

Gorgo Frag

Matt,

I mounted the Gorgo frag and its doing well.

Nearly full polyp extention about an hour after mounting and placement in the tank.

I think that was the first time I've seen nearly full polyp extention on a frag when it was still in the plastic bag.

Thanks

Jeff

still got a bunch of frags if anyones interested.....these would hold up to ground shipping well, if shipped to somewhere reasonable near by.....
