Do any of you know where I can get Gorgonia Ventalina? I am looking for it so I can add it to my Caribbean Biotope and it has proven to be a very difficult species to attain. Just wondering, Thanks!:D

I know liveaquaria had it in their diver's den captive grown section recently. It may still be there.

its illegal right now to collect the ventilina at the keys, that's why its a hard find. so i guess the only chance is to look for aquacultured ones.

Is that the only place it is found? I just looked up some images, it's a really nice coral...

Good luck on finding one, and please post some pics if you do!

it can be found in florida, bermuda and carribean.

its illegal in FL, it is also protected in Bermuda by the Coral Reef Preserve Act of 1966 as well in most part of the carribean.

well, goodluck in finding one, dibbs on the first frag:D

Keep looking in Diver's Den on LiveAquaria. They keep getting aquacultured or legally collected ones on regular basis lately.

Yep, they're aquaculturing them. Not inexpensive though: the last 1" frag went for somewhere between 100 and 130 dollars. Not that I wouldn't grab one if I still had my florida biotope tank!

Something to keep in mind: Gorgonia ventalina doesn't keep its nice flat shape in most aquarium unless provided with broad, diffused laminar currentm (I think that's what I've read). If your flow is at all chaotic, the sea fan gets twisted.

Wow that sucks. I bought one 10 months ago for $30 from a place in Alberta, Canada. Its been doing well and has put on 1" of new growth... I'll be experimenting with fragging it soon but unfortunately I have no way of getting a frag to you. Good luck with your search. its one of my favorite corals.
