Gorgonian ID and when to feed it

I use Reef Chilli. I use a couple level scopes every other night for a 29 BioCube. Follow the instructions and you should be fine.

I have a similar one and have heard them called candleabra gorgonians. It is photosynthetic and I do not go out of my way to feed it. When I got mine about 3 years ago it was about 4-5 inches it is now about 12-13 inches. good luck

It's not easy to ID your Gorgonian from that photo. But like 'gone fishin' I believe it is a photosynthetic coral. But they do very well in less than perfect water and prbably would do better if feed once and awhile than if not.

You might look thru the Gorgonians here and see if you can find yours. It's more about aquarium plants but they do Gorgonians as well.

It's photo synthetic, don't know the name but my seahorse tank is full if them. I feed phyto and gonipower for other things but I don't go out of the way for this one.

When I first got mine it believe they called it a rusty brown Atlantic gorgonian.. ( whatever that is .. it seems fairly common).. I started as a small frag and it now has been fragged twice and each "specimens" is about 12" tall and grow quickly.. mine are in a sea horse tank under power compacts.. and they get no special care... I do notice the polyps catch Cyclops when it is fed to the pipe fish .. so they may be grabbing additional food from that ...the water in that tank is pretty clean because of the quality needed to maintain the sea horses and pipe fish so I cant speak to their ability on being maintained in less than standard water.. I do know from experience that when I went on vacation for 2 weeks and the neighbor only did the feeding and no cleaning/water changes.. the nitrate level went up to 30ppm and they retracted their polyps and stayed retracted until I got the nitrates under 10ppm...

ard to tell from the pic, but it look nearly identical to the Gorg in my tank. Started off as a very small 2 branch frag(less the 2 inches), its easily quadrupled in size, and has about 5 branches in just over a year. I do not target feed it at all, but I'm pretty sure it gets some food when I feed my other NPS corals.

When I brought it home.

And today.
