Not sure what it is, but I don't think it's a gorilla crab, and the claws almost look like they belong to a box crab.

I thought for 2 months it was a gorilla crab. He is very small. Size of a silver dollar. I never got a good look at him because he was so shy. To ight I caught him and now I'm really curious to ID this guy!

Hi guys, just got the critter with an SPS Colony I got yesterday. Picture is not 100% but do you think it's bad for my reef? Do you thing it's a Gorilla Crab?

I had a crab that looked almost identical and it was an emerald. At first I was concerned because he looked different from the other two emeralds I had. I have been told to look for the Orange in the inside of the elbow to tell the difference but I don't know if that's true

Neither my emerald or my ruby mithrax crabs have the hairs on their claws? But I don't think they look like gorillas...

It's an Emerald, ask the guy at my lfs about it and he told me he had tossed a dozen Emeralds in his SPS Tank last week.

Case close lol

Thanks for your input

Keep an eye on it. Emeralds are algae-eaters, true, but they're crabs. Crabs are opportunistic and will kill things for food. They'll kill sickly fish or slow-moving things, and sometimes they go bad.

Emerald for sure. Bought some for bubble algae out break. They did there job for sure. Threw them in the sump afterwards and one hatched little baby crabs. Looks identical to yours.

It's a big hairy crab without porcelain-style claws. The claws look a bit too thick to be an emerald cousin. Probably best to sump it.
