not really a pair.

I had a male blue throat trigger for a few weeks then just found a female at a lfs. I put the female in but the male completely ignores her. I thought maybe they'd chill together but he's playing hard to get. Is this normal?

I'm sorry to hear about your trigger.

I just bought a male blue throat a couple of days ago to pair with my female. They dont "chill" with each other too.

They aren't going to "chill". They aren't like clowns. Fish occupy territories in the wild, but don't hang out in bonded pairs often. They come together to breed, but don't hold fins or anything. Some butterflyfish pair off, and clowns do it. There are others too, but some fish are solitary and participate in mass spawning: some groupers. They are all different.

People try and relate things to clowns too much I think, and one of the reasons they are different is we can replicate the environment a clownfish will spend its whole life in, in a 2'x2' area. Trigger territory however could be 100s of meters, just like tangs and angels.
