I am starting up a small reef, maybe a 10g or so..... i really want to get a panda goby and i know they need a pocillopora to hind in and under so my question is when i get a frag of pocillopora, is there anyway i can keep it relatively small?

keep in mind i only ask this because i have not kept coral yet so i am still leraning about keeping all different kinds BEFORE i actually buy them....i want to have a wealth of knowledge so i can try and do this right the first time......

any help is appreciated and i was going to post this in the new to the hobby forum but thought i might get a faster or more detailed response here

It breaks easily. You just tap the limb you don't want and you have a frag. Just start gluing the debris to a rock, piece at a time, and pretty soon you'll have 2 pocis.

Yep, frag it when it gets too big. As Sk8r mentioned they break pretty easily and from my experience are quite hardy. I've taken frags less than an inch & they seem to do just fine. Also, my experience is they do grow, but not at an extremely fast rate.

Really? You would just about need a chisel to break mine. I thought it would snap easily until the entire rock that it was connected to became loose and I never could break one of the branches.

I've noticed that mine isn't especially easy to frag either. Not as strong as an acro, but not nearly as brittle as a digitata. It's taken quite a few bumps and I've never ended up with fracture or unexpected frag. Pretty fast grower as far as I've seen.

get a metal cutter, and wam it'll break off like butter =) make sure you rinse the metal cutter with ro water and let it dry really good so it doesn't rust ;)
