Got a new powderblue tang

Any suggestions on feeding and keeping healthy?

Also is it normal that he is more interested at eating off the sand and rocks than anything else that goes in the tank?

Suggestions would be to research a fish before you buy it. That being past, type powder blue tang in the search option.

I did research quite a bit before I bought him, and I cannot seem to find the answer to my question.

Is it normal for him to be more interested in eating off the rocks than eating other things that have gone in the tank.

And is it so much to ask for some suggestions from people who have experience keeping them?

it is very typical for new fish to pick at live rock before they take other feed. This can be a touchy and aggressive species that needs a lot of room, flow, good water quality and oxygen levels. They are prone to ick and are easily stressed, especially in a smaller system (they like to be the boss of the tank). I see there are plans for a 200 gallon, this is good and about the absolute minimum for a full grown adult IMO. Nori sheets are a good idea, I have had great success in getting picky feeders going with several products but I really like new life spectrum pellets and mysis shrimp. Every fish I have kept in the last several years has started feeding on the nls pettets within a few days and most fish take mysis immediately.

He is actually the only one in the 220 gallon. So he should have plenty of room, and all of the rock was precured.

I will pick up some nls, I ran out a few weeks ago and maybe this will do the trick, he is eating gracilaria that the LFS gave me to feed him also.
