Got my Aquapod - Questions

Okay, let me first say that i am not a NEWBIE to Reefing, but i am new to Nanos. I use the Berlin method of filtration on my 50 Gallon, i just run a lot of water and a protein skimmer with a deep sand bed an lot of live rock.

My questions are, what media should i use? I know a lot of people replace the bioballs with Liverock rubble. How many of you use all of the media that it comes with? if i replace the bioballs with Liverock rubble, do i put the carbon over the Liverock? Basically what should be in chamber 1, 2, 3, and 4. Does the heater go in chamber 4 along with the pump? i brought a MJ900 for more movement, for those of you that do that, do you not use the stock pump, or do you use it in adition to the stock pump? Also, when you lift up the lid, when it hits a certain point it makes a loud snap like the lid is hitting something when opening, is this normal?

thanks again,

Jeff

I have the 12 gallon aquapod too. I left all the the media that comes with it in it. I wash out the sponge every week and I do a 2 gallon water change every week. I never hear mine make a loud snap.

yeah, it looks like the plastic peice of the hood is slightly touching the rim of the tank, then it snaps once too much force is put on, i can easily fix this by slight sanding the plastic peice, but cant figure out how to take off the hood.

I have a 24 AP, but I did a water change on a 12 at my LFS and when I opened the lid it made a really loud snap. Does the 12 really have 4 chambers?! the 24 only has two, so you can'd do much for filtration.

Yeah, for some reason the plastic from the hood was hitting the rim. I took my dremel with the sanding bit and took care of that in like two seconds. Yes, it does have 4 chambers, in the first i have the sponge, second is currently empty but will have some chemi-pure and third has live rock rubble and forth has mj900 and heater.

On the 24g you open the lid so it is vertical. Grab the lid by the bottom corners and gently pull toward you. It should pop out of the hinge.
