got my euroreef rs80 today,and some top down shots

it came in and its up and running.in gonna have to make a new sump(for the 3rd time)to make it fit right but i was able to pact it in and get it running.

man i wish mine foamed like that i have the ER 8-3 but think i need to upgrade the pump. did that one come with the sedra 5000 ?

that foam was in first 30 minutes it came with the modded sedra 3500A.i cant wait to pull some real skimmate.ive had a little cyno problem lately but between the skimmer,phosphate remover,and lots of ro/di water changes i plan on winning the battle :uzi:

have you soaked the pump in vinegar lately

yea i have tried that. also one side where it pulls together is kinda broke off so theres a small gap but i get great sludge on the inside and the lid but nothing in the cup.

well the size kinda bothers me.from what i see in the pic it is baffled good(which makes me feel a little better if i help).i would hate to help you make this sump and something go wrong.do you already have the materials?do you have all the dimensions for placement of everything in the sump?

You will love that skimmer. I have been through 3 skimmers and my last one which I just p/u about a month ago is the
rs-135 w/sendra 5000. It took about 3 days to break in. I was a little worried at first but now it pulls out a full cup of gunk in 4 days. (black gunk). My old Aqua C (another high end skimmer) only pulled out a about a 1/2 of gunk every week.

The picture of the orange cap, is that the one I gave you?
If so it made a nice color up in your tank and looks great!

yeah hawkster thats the cap i got from you.it is coloring up nice and growing real nice.the stag i got from you is starting to branch out also.the skimmer has been on for 2 days now and im starting to get some nice looking skimmate in the cup today.i think im gonna get a gate valve for the outlet(the adjuster is a little touchy).

Mrferrit,

If you don't clean the inside of the ER, the gunk never gets up to the cup. Try cleaning the inside with vinegar and warm water and your hands. You will find the foam goes throughout the bottom and the gunk goes in the cup.

I want a large sump for the increased water volume and for a large refugium. Nothing is going in the sump, except the heater and probes, everything else is external. There will be a bulkhead for the Dart return pump, a bulkhead for the two PCX55HP skimmer pumps. What is it about the size? I haven't bought any materiels yet. My plan is 1/2" Acrylite GP, which I priced at a plastics store near me.

the size bothers me cause id hate for it to break.i dont usually make things out of acrylic(that size) that hold water.to make the sump you would need weld on#40( i think).i have only used weld on #3and4(these are true liquid glues) and set up alot faster.i have never used weld on #40 so i would be a virgin to it.i actually contacted FAIOS about having there acrylic guy glue my upcoming tank.if you really want my help,i will.but i would want to do a few test pieces first.
