Hi all, just dropping a line to let you all know I'm finally trying my hand at clams. I was able to get a crocea yesterday, and although I wanted a beginner/low light deresa or squamosa,(they were not avail locally) I got this clam before it was taken out of the bag it was shipped in to the LFS,(the had just got it ) so it would not have to be acclimated twice(I usually donty buy stuff before it's been at LFS for a few days, but unfortunatley it was get it now or risk it being sold before i got it)I'm gonna do my best to take care of this slightly more sensitive specimen accordingly. I hope the 2x65 pc's will be enough on my 29gal(please dont bash me, I'm trying my best with what I have). I set it in the sand after aclimation, and it opened 30 mins later about 1 inch. I'm gonna wait about a week and prob try to move it up higher I the rockwork as suggested(if it needs it) from other folks. So I guess I look for browning as a sign if its not getting enough light correct??? Also, I had to feed my corals last night anyway, and when I added some marine snow for the corals, the clam opened a little more as if he was feeding also. I'm hoping that was a good sign for hardiness. I'll up a Pic when I get home from work today.
