edit: Not being a canonite, you may want to verify that the canon EOS mounts on these lenses will work w/ your body.

And a Canon dSLR or SLR?

B&H photo's used dept. has two excellent macro lenses for under $300.00 and in great condition... I was searching for nikon mounts but both the tamron 90mm and sigma 105mm macro's that they have available are Canon EOS mounts. Thought I'd let you guys know since both these lenses are great for aquarium photography and general macro/portrait work.

Tamron 90mm F2.8

Sigma 105mm F2.8

hope someone finds this useful... BH's used dept. has an excellent reputation...
