Got Stomatopod?

Bodibuilt Looks good except for one minor exception. Have you considered drilling holes in the divider to let water level out more easily between the two sections?

I pondered that thought but figured it would be ok since both sides share the same overflow box? I do also still need to figure out where to drill the return holes... Hmmm.... still pondering the thought : )
I'm still not too sure about dividing the tank... I may remove it to allow more room and then I'll just have to set up a second tank for the other mantis!:eek1:

He's actually planning on having a return for each side, so one side can have large flow while the other can have a more mild flow, and since the overflow is right down the middle it will work perfectly ;)

I was thinking of this tank or a Eclipse 12. What do you guys think?

Pretty decent dims especially for a 10G its 22LX10WX18T

I do like the half octogon shape of that one!
Ultimatly you should get the largest footprint you are able to make room for...
The recomended water volume for an adult O.S. is 100l. (how many gallons is that anyway?~lol)

so uhhh, how much money is going to be saved on shipping ect??? i was going to order a N. wennerae from stomatopod.com but if it would be cheaper to do it through a bulk order from reefcentral then that may be the way to go....

Actually i thought those dims were pretty close to Nuuze tank> I looked on front page and it comes to 17 gallons not 10

gharner - Im positive the discounted shipping will save you, and remember that we have also been offered a 15% price break on (all) livestock aswell! This deal is arranged for any persons within driving range of Sacramento...

That sounds good...and I really like that tank pic you posted for asthetic value!!! : )

Hey, kdblove_99

Remember to get a small one, because when that guy grows up he'll need at least a standard 20 gallon footprint, and thats kinda cramped for O. scyllarus.

100L is roughly 25 gallons (take the L# and divide it by 4 to get an almost accurate, but rough idea)

Dan,

Arent they know for being super slow growers? I would get a bigger one right off i just dont know if i wanna set up a tank with stand etc. Would like to just keep it on my desk. I do have a huge executive desk .

They grow approximately an inch a year (and this is highly variable on conditions, but really roughly that is a good expectation). So if you got a 3" one the longest I'd keep it in there is to 5" at the absolute max (guessing from the look of the tank and you saying 17 gallons). So with a 3" you'd have a rough 2 year time to setup a new tank for him or whatever if thats the route you wanna go.

Hey Nuuze-
Even with a four bulb light you could easily choose to run only two bulbs assuming the fixture has two switches...

Dan,

By them saying 25 gallons what Dims are they working off of?

They thinking 36"L, that seems overkill to me. Or is the standard 30"L? Thanks in advance

Davey

I had to do a little digging for this. These figures are from AGA.

Size LXWXH empty lbs: Filled lbs:

30 Gallon 36 1/4 x 12 5/8 x 16 3/4 43 343

25 Gallon 24 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 20 3/4 32 282

20 Long 30 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 12 3/4 25 225

20 High 24 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 16 3/4 25 225

I couldn't find the dimensions of a standard 20 gallon but 20 is generally considered minimum for an adult 5-7" O. scyllarus. Keep in mind that they are also messy eaters and contribute alot of bioload.

As for the 100L recommended by Dr. Roy-I have no idea how to interpret that. He usually recommends based on observations in the field, the necessary room for a good activity level, and necessary volume for bioload. However I just don't know how that translates to footprint. I say that if you can provide a 25"X12" footprint with a 15 gallon tank and can keep water quality up your golden ;)

hmmm, sacramento does seem a little far for me to drive.......im near harrisburg PA. hahahahahahaha i must have missed that part:rolleyes: i was wondering how that was going to work:lol:

Yes BodiBuilt, actually 3 switches. One for each of the two T5's and the third for moonlights.

I'm thinking of adding the light, different skimmer and a circulation pump.
