haha, yeah, i was hoping that i could stock some hermits and emeralds in the tank for whenever he's hungry, but he's already killed and eaten everything.

Hey DylanE,
That first pict turned out great! Thats more than I ever saw of her while in my tank...
Looks Good!
Oh, and by the way, I named my peacock "Mandolyn". She has also devistated all living things from her tank including (2) Black Long Spine Urchin! All thats left is a blue mushroom and a huge mass of chaeto!
The other peacock (un-named) seems to be much more mellow and still has many live critters sharing the tank with her.
And since I gave up "show me love", I decided to remove the divider so the P.ciliata can have the whole tank. I will take/post some new pics soon.
Time to order more food... lol
:D

yeah i've been really pleasantly surprised that a G. Chiragra has been so interactive. Oh, i meant to ask, i take it its a female then? I think my damsel will greatly appreciate when i get my biocube 8, it's been working hard to stay off the menu. I'll try to get some action shots up when i drop an emerald in there today, the first one she ate was quite a show:eek1: . I'd love to see that P. Ciliata take down a damsel if you can get a pic :D

According to Thomas (Gangsta Nemo), Riddick is a female...

As for P.ciliata,
I will do my best to capture some "speerer" action on film and share with everyone!
:eek1:

haha, not yet, Riddick just decided to knock off the poor bastards arm and let it go hide under a rock. The emerald hasnt moved from that spot since...but its only a matter of time.:p

For the first week and half we did not see Cuddles much at all. When I check with flashlight it is there and moving around. Until one day I was cleaning some algea patches off the sand with a turkey baster. I was being cautious keeping an eye on the rock in tank in case Cuddles came out. All of a sudden Cuddles darted out of the side to see what's going on nearly freaking me out! Since then Cuddles comes out everyday now exploring all over. As soon as she (assuming the name "Cuddles" is female from Stomatopod.com?) see movement in the room she take cover and peeks.

Here are the best pics we can get so far since she moves so fast!

Nice Shots Mike.

Do you still plan on getting a Peacock when they get them in at Stomatopod.com?

I have both and must say the Peacock is way more active and interactive

Thanks kdblove_99.

Probably not at this time. Not sure if a both Peacock and Cuddles can live together so that would mean another tank.

Well would you belive it I went and found a Mantis.

Thank you Your Reef for handing him off to me. He is a G. Smithii, and as far as I can tell full grown. So far he is holed up in his rock, just sneaking out for little jaunts. I believe he ate a hermit crab, and watched him eat some of a silverside.

These guys are so awesome, I just hope he will start coming out more as he gets use to the tank.

Congradulations Thromgar! Keep us posted! G. smithii...SWEET!

gem,
It's not too late! :p

Well, I've made some attempts to capture my P.ciliata on film while she hunts... She moves WAY faster than my camera! I have countless "blurry" photos, but was able to catch a couple descent ones to share~
After dropping a thawed popcorn shrimp in the tank, she came out to investigate...

Which brought her attention too her fellow tankmates... :fish1:

No Fish Were Harmed In The Making Of This Film! (lol)... :lmao:

Got this shot of the "shy" peacock... (she's too fast for the camera too!) I call it "Out one hole, and and In the other"...

Once again I must appologize for my poor quality pics...
:D

Thromgar. were they selling it?

Smithii seem to be kinda hard to get. I know Stomatopod.com doesnt get them in very often would love to see a pic of yours

I just got lucky.

I dropped by Your Reef to get some coral, and asked if they ever had in any mantis shrimp. The guy there said oh yeah, I have one right now, he is free to whoever wants him. Guess he was a hitchiker who terrorized someones tank. From what he said this guy is a few years old.

I need to get some better pics of him as my first attempts were beyond terrible. I was talking in the Mantis forum and a guy there helped by making the id. Soon as I can get some beter light and he starts coming out more I will get a good pic to post here.

I must say I was so stoked to get ahold of this guy, and then to find out he was a Smithii, was even better. My ideal species just randomly fell into my lap.
