Got Stomatopod?

Yeah they only say less light is better because with stronger lighting they can get shell disease alot easier.

Pics are getting a little better. still hard to see though

Same results with mine. With actinics on it rarely comes out. But as soon as the whites turn on it ventures out. I think I need to add more rubble and things for it to explore.

From what I hear, the issue with shell disease and light relates more to deep water species and/or larger species of mantis.

I definitely need a better camera though. Currently my ancient digital just no longer handles the photos. Time to get a Digital SLR and get some real pics, lol.

Any of you put any fish in with your smashers yet? I am thinking about trying to set up the mantis nano as an aggressive patch reef. Just a little worried that he will kill fish.

I put my 6-line wrasse there for about a week now. I saw the mantis try to catch a few times but unsuccessful. I only have one rock and they seem to sleep next to each other. I did notice the 6-line creates a sort of bubble cocoon at night around it.

i've got 5 green chromis in with my peacock. No problems yet and had them in there since i got the mantis. he doesn't even pay attention to the fish. From my understanding males are more prone to the shell disease also. Can't remember where i read that though.

I was going to jump in with you guys, but had to wait until the right one was available. It's in my kid's 12g Aquapod, and wanted a smasher that was small enough not to be able to break glass.

It wasn't available to order until the 13th of this month.

Your the one that got that Smithii?

I was on at the time and it was still available, I had no plans of getting it. when i checked back like 1 minute later it was gone

Yeah...Billy got a kick out of how I only let the listing last 45 seconds.

He's just starting to explore the tank, and getting pics has been tough. I do have some poor pics of 'Balboa' (my boys finally decided on a name yesterday) breaking down Drago.

I was over at Jo Jo's this afternoon, and they've got a gorgeous Peacock. I left him there, as my only potential spot for him would have been my fuge, which is currently housing a Powder Brown tang and a 6 line wrasse that thought they could beat the holy you know what out of my new wrasses. They're being taught manners, and may or may not end up back in the tank, but I don't really want them to become Mantis chow either.
