I agree with Paul, this should have been kept between the two of you. I can see your side of wanting to warn people, but you changed the deal by not taking the sump, thus you lost your chance. This kind of thread has no place in furthering the hobby, or promoting cooperation between reefers. It just makes us look bad to outsiders, and other clubs.

I may be sorry for saying this but here it goes! Reading this reminds me of Junior High School! Nothing personal but seriously some things are better kept amongst individuals not in a public forum that thousands of people read. Burnt bridges are HARD to rebuild and threads like this are wildfire!

I would just like to add that it was a real pleasure meeting Pete and his wife, and I would be really bummed if this thread were to interfere with you coming to any future meetings or events. My deal with you for the filter was a great expierience and more importantly you and your wife seemed to be first class people and a real solid addition to the club!! If I see you and your wife at the scrap swap this weekend I will give you both a free MARS burger, at no charge !!!!

As i am probably leaving the hobby. I will say there are some real good people in the forum/club.

I have also seen the craigslist kinda thing going on.

Just like anywhere you have to know who you can trust and find out who you can't.

The posting i think was just worded bad.

When i read the topic all i could think of is he bought a tank got it home and it leaked and the other party wasnt going to refund the money.

and yes I can see how the topic can make it look bad.... I got the leaky tank feeling from it as well...

Anyways I will go to the event this weekend to put a face to everyone here... I think its a good idea to talk to people in person.. sometimes things get twisted up in these forums..

I'm confused as to why you chose to "flame up" this situation. It seems that it all could have been tactfully handled between parties without dragging it out into the open. Anything more than that IS drama and completely unnecessary. I'm not judging who's right and wrong in this deal, and just saying that there are far more diplomatic ways to handle it. PLEASE!

By the way, using the word "swindled" DOES imply that someone is a swindler which is implicitly slanderous.
