Grabbed another green gig

Got this one from Aquatic Collection in CA. They had 3 but this one seemed the healthiest in the pics they sent. This is right after going in the QT. Seems to be holding its shape well and is starting to attach. I'm also hopefully getting two tiny ones shipped to me today. Those are only 2"-3". Im hoping the small ones will handle the collecting/shipping process better than the big ones usually do.

I'll get better pics tonight. Can't seem to get one that's not blurry now but it has decent tentacle length for a new import.

I love it! Good luck :) What does one look for in an anemone that is healthy before buying? I have no clue.
Wish they had a website with current stock.

Man.... That thing is gorgeous. Mind me asking what you paid for it?

It was $150 plus shipping. Pretty good deal I thought. They had a blue as well.

These are the others they had. I got the one that was in with the blue one.

With gigantea I feel like the most important thing is that they hold their shape well and don't look pancaked. Tight mouth is alway good for any type of anemone and no tears of course.

Have you considered putting it through a course of cipro while it's in QT? I have always done this with carpets and they all did very well.

I always put them though cipro unless they are established coming from someone else's tank.

Pfan good luck with the new one. I tried one last shot with a tan one from live aquaria just after the green one I had melted and it came in poor condition. I tried to treat and I don't know if anyone else could have been more precise with the protocol but it didn't make it either. Call me a quitter, lol but I'm done with gigs unless an established one comes along. Too much time and money for me. By the time you calculate the price of the animal, meds, box of salt, and man hours, then to sit back and watch it melt away you could have taken a cruise and gone snorkeling to see these things in their habitat. I know many have treated with success but those same people have watched many melt as well. I truly hate this because it's one of the items I would love to have most but the treatments and constant loss pulls from my enjoyment in the hobby. I truly wish you the best with yours but I'm going to be watching from the sideline.

I've learned that you have to "beat those things up" with water during the treatment/waste flush phase. My gig-adoni loved it. Backed off a bit after he was done expelling. I also bought a clarkii to help. He has tremendously.
