Grace's chemi-cleaned tank

As we learned at the July meeting, Florida’s disaster season stared early for poor Grace. Her new 150 display was “chemi-cleaned” almost to death. The toadstool and a few other corals remain.

Thank goodness, she has pictures of the previous 55. Here is the link to her gallery:

Here is the Boyd warning about aerating the tank:

YOU MUST USE AN AIR STONE WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT AND WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING THE WOODEN TYPES AVAILABLE - PLEASE PUT YOUR AIR STONE IN YOUR TANK, BEFORE YOU START TO DOSE YOUR TANK

Mmm, lots of soft corals (just what I like)

BTW, power heads (of which I think I see one in the left corner) should provide more than enough movement of the water surface to aerate the display water properly. (Airline pumps and stones are not efficient at introducing oxygen into the water â€"œ they are simply cheaper means of doing it.)

• How can we research this?
• How can we test our theories of the cause of her crash?

I hope we can do a rescue at the August or September meeting and all bring her a few new pets to get things started again.

I've used it before and it's worked great for me... just remember to turn off your skimmers first.. It will bubble them up like someone put a ton of soap in your water!

Had she used it before, and if so, with good results? Thats too bad, the tank pics of her 55 were great. What happened? I read the website for it (many spelling and grammer mistakes) and it seems like its a good thing. Do tell us about it.

I've used it to remove cyano from my tanks... I've never used an airstone either time I used it. The cyano cleared up and stayed gone (~6-8 months now). All the corals and fish were 100% fine.

I also used the recommended dose (TINY AMOUNTS!)...

This stuff works great (Chemi-Clean), highly doubt it was this that crashed her tank... I have overdosed this stuff several times with no problems.
