Is this for a HS student?
If so, while nice photos, personally (take no offense) I feel they are too sexually objectifying of a way to portray a young person publicly.

Like I said, nice pics, take no offense.

Man I think you did a GREAT job! Much better than many senior portraits from studios. You really nailed it and should be proud of yourself!

I really like the perspective on the 2nd shot. Overall they're good portrait shots, however I think it could be better if you focus on her eyes more though, instead of skin (esp. the the last pic). On portraits, the eyes make up about 80% of the image, in my opinion.

good shots!

How do Focus on her eyes XTM do i have her move or do I make a change on the camera? Thanks for the good words its a toss up between the 2nd and third pic for her family.

HS Graduates > 18 years old typically.

I see no issues with these photos, they are tastefully done and I feel you did great with the poses. Keep up the good work.

I don't see any "objectifying" here. Only the second photo is even remotely sexual in nature... but I like that one the best.
Good job.

Thanks Guys!!! She picked the 3rd and 4th photo to print.
I really like the lighting I got on the 1st pic. This was my first portrait shoot I look forward to doing more!!

Re: On the last shot.. you can clear the hair on her left eye. You can make the eyes pop up more by dodging the white portion and sharpening the iris. You can also use a fill flash for the last photo to soften up the harsh shadow on her face. (soften, not eliminate)

I think you take some really good portraits. I've shot nude models before, and everyone in the workshop treats it as art. I don't understand why some people see it differently

I would see what Sean may mean with his post. Images 2,4, and 6 have that theme going for them. At the same time she may have asked for this pose? I honestly prefer looking at these images compared to those of say Myspace, Facebook, or similar websites. Lets be honest at least she is covered, and not purposely trying to expose some skin.

xtm - Just different taste I suppose?

Justin - I like number 5 a lot. Just looks right to me I guess? Good job with all of them :)

xtm: thanks for the advice I see it now. When she is looking down it seems to loose the focus on her eyes.

Rhizo: thanks for the compliments!

A couple more... I have about 50 pics from this shoot and most of them are a little too sexually objectifying for this forum. We wanted to pic two maybe three for her Graduation announcements and the rest were for her personal use.

I really like the clean gravel garden setting. Really I like how you setup all of your shots. They all seem to be well thought out and well executed. You either measured twice before you cut or maybe you just cut 1,000 times and were seeing the very best. Either way it worked.

Was the dreamy haze achieved in post processing or was it a really cool camera trick? The pictures look great to me, I'm sure she was happy to have such nice photos for her graduation.

You can buy filters to do that, or get the Canon 135mm f/2.8 soft focus lens. I'm voting for PP here though. The effect is selective. If you do it in camera she would be blurry to.

That's what I figured. I supposed if you used a filter you could do one with and one without and mask out areas you wanted, but then you might as well do it all in photoshop.

TitusvileSurfer: I too like the gravel thanks!

ludnix: The Blur is from a add on in photoshop its called
color efex pro and the blur is called a vignette blur and I also used a glamor glow filter. Thanks Glad you like them!

I'm sure I speak for most of the members when I say post them and let us decide ;)

Nice pictures by the way, better than most senior photos I've ever seen.

Thanks Recty I don't think she would be comfortable letting me post them:0)

I am going to be doing a maternity boudoir shoot with my girlfriend soon! We are thinking about going to the thrift store and trying to find some cool old curtains or bed set for her to wrap up in. Anyone ever done any maternity stuff?

Do you happen to have one of the originals of this one? I wanted to try out how my manual method of creating the blur compares to using the add-in plugins.
