The Tyree grafted simplex comes to mine . Not common IMO
Also I have a coral that stole some pigment from another now I get different colord polyps and inside the branches I get some green which is not part of the coral orginally.
Hard to photgraph but I will see if I can get one.
This is very uncommon and has been treid in the past. Most times one will over take the other and it does not work out. I would love to see a picture of the coral at Hand.

The one that I was referring to is a montipora confusa. I originally thought that it had an electric green base with ugly brown polyps. When I went to move the coral, the polyps were not extended, revealing the wonderful green and brown graft all across the body of the coral. Thus, I thought that this could be unusual, but I wanted to see who else has this.
If you look at the base of the simplex that is pictured, you will see a marble pattern. With my confusa, it has the same marble pattern but the colors are different. It is quite spectacular, yet ugly piece IMO.
I don't think anyone can say they have a grafted pigment coral unless it's the Tyree, or you do all those tests to prove that the pigment is foreign and came from a different species. JMO but there was significant scientific research that went into determining that the pigment actually "drifted".
I can because I had 2 corals growing on the same base...... Both RTN'd almost completely . I then broke of the one that was almost 100% gone and let the other be . The on I left is now 100% tissue and got some pigment from the base of the other coral . Now its one piece and even my frags carry the same traits.
Yes it is one coral that now has extra pigments it never had or should have. I will get pictures.
The simplex wasn't graffted by hand it was by chance that it happend as is mine . Although it would have been 100% better if it wasn't such an ugly coral to start with .
It is also a purple brown coral which picked up some green from the other coral.

I know But it did not come this way and its color extends well beyond the base. Even to a point where polyps on that side of the coral are green when they should be brown or white.
I am in the middle of digging thru 7264 pictures that I have taken over the last 2 years.
Okay that was a total PITA. Hope you like my ugly coral ;-)
Okay here goes hopefully I can get these in order . Also sorry I do not have a recent shot in the last 6 months as it is buried back in my reef cause its ugly and I its impossible to get a pic of it now.
Okay this is the oldest I can find. @ this point the acro had been recovering for 4 months or so . It was almost all skeleton . During that time a few polyps that were left from the donating coral turned into small lil encrusted areas. Bottom left of coral see the green polyps
This is a tad bit latter
Here you can see the coral is coloring up a bit but those 2 spots with green polyps are still there.
