Hi,
I would like to know if anyone has experience with the rare Gramma linki (Yellowlined basslet)? I'm interested to buy one but would like to know a bit more about this fish.

Thanks a lot

That's what I think also but wanted to know if someone have already have this fish... I begin to think that it is really an uncommon fish!

I have been diving and collecting tropicals in Florida and the Caribbean for almost 20 years and I have only seen this fish once in the Bahamas and never off the coast here in Florida. They come from very deep water, the one I saw was in 170 ft +/-. They are not very attractive compared to other grammas and for the effort to go and get them it is not a popular fish. I have heard of them being sold for several hundred dollars to Japan but I don't know if this is true or not, I have seen them on a local list about 3 years ago at $500 and there was only 1 in stock at the time.

My guess is they are not too hard to keep, probably any type of meaty foods and cooler water is what it recommends but I am not sure this is necessary, where I saw them it was in the upper 70's at that depth. It was in a group of other grammas, mostly a royal type (there are 2 or 3 species that look the same under water and it could have been any one of these) and a mix of about 1/3rd black caps. I couldn't collect it but I did collect several black caps on that dive which all did well at normal aquarium conditions so I don't see why G. linki would be any different.
