Grammas loreto and cryptocentrus cinctus

Hello to all,

I've been reading lately some articles about this two species (Gramma loreto and Cryptocentrus cinctus) since i think i've establish a pair of both. I would like to know a little more to encourage spawning.

I've got a 90 Liter aquarium (22 gallon i think) and a 500 liter aquarium (125 gallon i think) that i can use. I can use other models of aquariums since i used to work with some others species in a small scale systems.

My question is about tankmates, should the pairs be completely alone to feel more confortable ? what hiding places should i provide ?

I've read about fibers and sand to Grammas, and i've got caulerpa prolifera, but have acess to other types of algae.

For the cryptocentrus cinctus, i think i've establish a pair, because they are the only ones in their aquarium and they are always sharing the same hiding place, one keeps hiding and the other "guards" but no eggs.
Any thoughts on this ?

Sincerely,

BC

Small tanks such as 10 or 20 are suitable as broodstock tanks for those fish. The two pairs are probably a good candidate for sharing the 22 without conflict. However, for a beginning breeder you might be best off with each pair in it's own tank.

Thank you for the reply.

What should i do to encourage the spawning in the cryptocentrus cinctus ? could i have two pairs in the same aquarium ? or does this involves too much stress (one friend of mine is getting is aquarium dismantled and he has got one pair).

Keep it one pair of a species to a tank. Two pairs will have issues with each other. The big tricks are lots of good food and frequent water changes ;)
