Can Granular Ferric Oxide be regenerated, namely high capacity GFO?

i have seen some mentioning of heating or baking GFO to renew. is this possible or suggested?

thanks,

Chuck

Heating the material won't do any good. I'm not aware of any practical method of renewing the media.

most insteresting,. how ar ethe results? i have been using high cap GFO from BRS, and must say am very happy with results. corals i thought were just brown, have colored up tremendously.

this product looks intersting to say the least,

feedback please?

Hard to say what caused the positive results as I started running carbon at the same time (2 weeks ago). The corals all look fantastic and I think the GHA growth is slowing down. I don't know how the price compares (it came as a package) but the recharge process looks time consuming. It involves either using freshly 'baked' baking soda or chemicals from a pool store (which I am hesitant to do). There was absolutely no dust when rinsed which I found refreshing compared to the last GFO I used (Fluval in a filter sock in the sump). I would suspect any pelletized product would be similar in this regard.
