Grass in reef

I was looking for info on putting some turtle, shoal, and mantee grass in my reef tank. I have a blue tang, will he eat it? What about the hermit crabs? What other things should I worry about? What are some other algae and plants that can be put into a reef tank that won't be picked at? Thanks for any help.

I think the Tang will eat any Green algae. The one I heard which fish wouldnt eat is "fairy hair" I think thats what they call it. But I put some in a 55 gallon reef and the next day the whole thing was gone (and it didnt fall behind any rocks)

turtle and manatee grass are true vascular plants and I'm pretty sure a tang wouldn't touch it. But I don't know that for sure. I do know the hermits won't eat it, nor will any snails I know of.

Qckwzrd,
I think Chlorodesmis is what you are talking about and I've heard it called Maiden's Hair.

Dero,
Those grasses seem pretty fibrous. Most tangs are adapted to eating soft things that are toxic or chemically taste bad. Few are very good at chewing on harder food. The bristletooth tang might be an example?

i have maidens hair algae, and my LMB dosent eat any of it, but when the algae gets to big, it turns brown, thats when my hermits take care of it. i really like it, nice neon green color.
