Grayheads 240 build

The only issue I am having with my system is some microbubbles making their way back to the display. It started as soon as I changed return pumps. I am not sure if it's from a cavitation on the side of the pump drawing water from the sump of what is pushing up the return line. Jeffs system from lifereef utilizes barded fittings on hose. As I said before, it was not doing it with the blue line pump. I'll take an afternoon this week to survey the return plumbing for any issues.
I don't think it's coming from the skimmer. It seems to have broke in just fine

Very nice setup grayhead. Love the built into the corner wall idea. Wish I would have done something like that. Maybe later on if I upgrade to the 180

I borrowed the idea from d2minis previous build. It saves a lot of area by doing so. My build is based on personal experience and also what I saw work over the last few years of reading others build threads. Good luck with your future build

Thanks I appreciate that. I'm sure it will be a long time till I upgrade again. I just went from a 30 to a 75 9 months ago. Think the wife would flip if I mentioned another upgrade any time soon

mine told me no when I mentioned it awhile back. But it's starting to actually look like a reef now and my little girl loves it. The wife will warm up to the idea one day

She likes it, just doesn't want to take care of it. That's what I'm there for lol. I'd say in a few years when it's grown out and I move up she won't care. But as for now it works

Well, hopefully Richard was able to dive today for the contents of part 2. We have been waiting for the storm drainoff to clear. He tried to go yesterday, but the boat messed up. Hopefully he has a safe trip seeing how there is another storm sitting on the other side of florida.

All kinds of goodies included. Found a dead blennie last night. He wasn't packaged separately. Not sure if he was lost during transport. Just happened to see him under the rock work.
Richard gives a wonderful package. Ordered some supplements today to attempt to keep the sponges alive.
Last night the barnacles were feeding. Saw literally hundreds on each rock.
My LFS was a little put off because I wouldn't purchase live rock from them. They could never duplicate what Richard does without being the middle man.

I have purchased live rock before. I remember getting excited over 1 mini bristle star and a piece of bubble algae. I would have never imagined the life that this rock brings. Not counting a fully established stable reef in no time. Is it nessisary, no. But it adds so much to setting up a new tank. I'm quiet sure there is something in there undesirable. I have not saw but a few gorilla crabs. No mantis shrimp yet. Tons of porcelain crabs though.

My elegance coral had another baby last night.

My elegance has about 8 knobs hanging on the underside. When they start pulling and looking like they are going to tear, I clip them with the scissors. Going to make a small garden with 3-4 and trade out for a few frags.

I also saw one of my acro frags jetting some milky substance. It looks fine today. Think it may have spawned perhaps

Time for an update.
The tank is running stable after 2 and a half months. I had a hiccup with phosphates for a while. This was due to using the pukani from my old tank. I removed it and the phosphates reading bottomed out nicely.

I have been adding fish to the display now. My stock list is as follows
Matted file fish
Magnificent Foxface
Ornate leopard wrasse
2 Midnight clown fish
Fromia Indica Starfish
Powder Brown tang
Yellow Belly Hippo
Red sea yellow eye tang
Mimic Tang
Rusty angel
Coral Beauty
Japaneses Swallowtail angel
Yellow tang
Royal Gramma

Also adding multiple SPS coral.

My older LPS coral are doing fine, but any new LPS seem to struggle. I purchased a golden torch frag that died rather quickly. I later purchased a colony of green torch. It has receded but still not dead. But all in all, the tank is doing great. Some of the sponges and growth that came in the rock has died back somewhat. The larger pieces jeff sent are doing fine. I dose Sponge power to keep them hardy.
