Great Finds Under $20

This is a thread for everyone to post those "finds" under $20.

1) Blue Feeding Ring - attaches to the side of the tank and keeps flakes from floating over the overflow. ~ $4

2) A razor blade to scrape the coralline from the tank sides. 10 for ~$1.50

3) Extendable feeding tube ~$20

The 5 coral frags I gave away to a local new to the hobby reefer yesterday.

Join your local club ..........it's the best deal out there.

I'm confused on how those 3 items are "great finds"? You can get em anywhere and beside the razor blade, I don't see how the other two are that great. As for #3, just buy a cheap turkey baster and it works great for 3 bucks as a feeding tube.

I've purchased a few 'damaged' corals at the LFS for $5 or $10 that turned out to be gorgeous once they recovered.

For me another 'find' was my Talbot's damsel. She's the prettiest little fish and has such a sweet personality (unlike many damsels Talbot's are peaceful). I almost passed her by, but it turns out she's just about the best $5 I ever spent.

Hi Jay24,

I call those items great finds because they cut down on work and waste for me. I was using a baster until I Found the extendable feeder... for those us feeding an animal at the bottom of a deep tank, well, when I found something that would keep my hands arms and elbows dry, I thought it was great!

The feeding ring I had always overlooked just because it is everywhere and cheap, but one day I picked it up and love it. I can feed less because the food stays in the tank and gets to fish.

Do you have any tips to share? Just affordable things that have made reefkeeping a little more enjoyable.
