After loosing most everything due to lack of electricity, I have Aptasia and a lot of it. I think that the power out helped it out. YEA. I am close to scubbing every piece of Live rock clean. What will eat this stuff like a lawnmower since it is the only thing really thriving since power came back??????

Kalk the **** out of them. I bougt a cheap syringe & needle at the farm store. If that dont give you any satisfaction buy a few peppermint shrimp. THey always work well for me. Nudibranch's also.

second that, make sure you get real peppermints and NOT camels!

I got a few camel shrimp and they don't touch aptasia. Or you can kalk paste the little sob's

Boiling water hasn't worked in my experience. Kalk paste seems to be the surefire way to get rid of them. Peppermints are hit or miss, or so I've heard. I've never had a peppermint not eat them, though big aptasia (2+ inches) needed injured in some way before they'd go after them. The boiling water WILL work for that.

my tank was taken over by them a year ago, two peppermints and 3 weeks later the tank was clear and has been ever since. The peppermints also mated and feed my tank every once in a while. To bad they died in the power outages, along with a green mandrien I have had since day one. All other fish and corals made it.

I'd throw the rocks outside for a few months. I've tried berghia, and also tried several peppermint shrimp with no success. The only thing I've had work is kalk paste and its a real hassle.

Anyone want to sell me their aptasia eating shrimp? ;)

Chris

I found two patches of brown zoos coming back but I did not have any browns there before. Do these just pop out of nowhere or did I just never see them before??? Strange.

They might be your old ones that have browned. After our power outage my bright yellow ones are now brown as can be. They might color back up.

I stumbled on a way to get them off quickly that leaves SOME chance of saving your rock without killing everything. Fill up the kitchen sink with hot water (or boil some RO water and fill the sink with it), no salt, then dip the affected rocks in the hot water. They detach themselves from the rock.

Then rinse the rock in regular temp fresh water (to get any left over eggs off) and return to tank.

Worked for me a few years ago, let me know how it works for you.

I'm throwing 10 peppermints in later this week for mine. I don't want to take a chance on another copperband as the first one got to likeing clam mantles, brain and lord feelers. I have alot of wrasses so I figure I will lose a few before they clean things up.
Good luck with yours.

Joe's Juice is made for aptasia but kalk paste seems to work just as well. I might have to give some peppermints a try as well.
