Great way to remove a mantis shrimp from your setup.

This works great on fish only tanks. It will remove mantis shrimp, crabs, pistol shrimp. Most crustacians.

This is how it works. Nitrate does little to fishes, but they are bad for crus. Don't do much water change for a while and all the amonia from fish waste turns to nitrate and stays in your water collum. When Nitrate goes around 200 ppm. Most crus will die off in a matter of days. The fishes will survive fine.

I understood very little about reefs before buying one. I now learned the hard way that nitrate is very toxic to inverts.

Interesting note, snails seems to deal with nitrate fine also.

btw, Now that I know, I am doing water changes and usingn lagae to suck up nitrates.
