If you don't already own a Flipper magnet scraper, stop what your doing and go buy one. I got mine on Amazon for $79 with Prime. I cannot believe I've waited this long to buy one.
I'm pretty careful with my current magnet cleaner, so I try to stay away from the sand bed. It's really strong, so I don't wanna risk scratching my tank. Only downfall to doing that, is the algae that builds up around the bottom edges of my tank. It makes the tank look dirty, even though my tank is typically clean of any other algae.

I don't know how well these work on acrylic tanks. I imagine it would be much easier to scratch, and I don't know if the risk of scratches is worth it. But for glass tanks, this thing is a must have. Scraped any hard coralline algae off within a few minutes. Typically i use a scraper attached to a pole, and it takes me around 20 minutes to clean my front and 2 side panels. Since it's so time consuming, I would normally only do it every few months. Now I can keep my tank clean on a daily basis.

Took a couple videos so you can see it in action. The algae you see coming off the glass wouldn't come off with my regular magnet.

The Tunze Care Magnet is also top notch for cleaning the glass down and below the sand.

I bought 1 I would say about 1 year ago give it or take. It was amazing at first. Lately, I felt that it did not work as great so I bought a new blade. It somehow does not seem to be as impressive as before even with the brand new blade. There are still areas on the glass that I cannot clean as easily as when I first got the flipper.....

I thought it was just me!! Yah, loved it first few months, then i switched the blade, and now it can't get certain spots. Mechanically, I can't seem to figure out what could have changed....

I've had mine for a while now and love it. I do have to change the blade out at least every 4 months because it gets dull.

Hmm. That's weird. Do you have the Flipper Max?

I won't use it every day, I have a really strong magnet that works great on regular algae. I'll just throw the Flipper in once a week to cut back on the harder to get stuff.

I've been using the flipper since it first came out love this cleaner I believe their companies out of Santa Barbara so pretty local to me if you don't got one you should try one

I have the regular flipper but my tank is .5 inch thick so that should not be a problem and like I said it was amazing in the beginning.

I have one on all my tanks, i have all 3 sizes and love them all. I recently bought a tunze one and it works but maneuvering a tunze magnet was a bit difficult. I have had all magnets for 1-2 years now and they work like a charm. I haven't had to buy a blade yet. I don't keep the magnets in my tank, I just bust it out and clean my glass weekly and rinse the blades with fresh water and put them away.

My tank is 1/2" glass, but one of the people that recommended it to me told me to get the Max. I wonder if that's your problem? I was told the medium size doesn't work all that great. The stronger magnet on the max model really helps.

Maybe you are evolving a new species of harder coralline [emoji15] [emoji33] [emoji2]

just picked on up last week on BRS with a bulk order. Great investment. Saves soooo much time, and I actually worry a lot less about scratches close to the sandbed. I keep mine out of the tank when I'm not using because the opposite end is a sand trap. Not sure if anyone else feels the same.

This makes sense. I'm going to try the max.

I love the Tunze Care Magnet. I have only tried the Flipper at trade shows so I haven't given it a fair chance by using one long term in my tank, but from my demo I still prefer the Tunze.

I got the flipper nano -- it works fine, but desperately needs a stronger magnet. Don't get me wrong -- It's *good*, but I have no doubt the stronger magnets are great.

That said, I too, have noticed it has weakened over time.. The only thing I can think is some type of damage to the magnet? Corrosion, Rust, or something
