thanks - yep, top branches are just a couple of inches under the surface. PC tube is a 55 watt '50/50' about 2" above water surface unshielded.

what kind of flow do you have in your tank and is that 55watts the total watts you have?
i ask becouse i have been holding off on getting sps do to only haveing 260 watts

I don't have major amounts of flow - I run a sawn off maxijet 1200lph, a standard 900lph MJ and a Juwel 1500lph runs a (live rock filled) internal filter at the rear of the tank. Tank is 130litres.

Total lighting is 134 watts (1x24watt actinic T5 and 2x55watt PC tubes) over an area of 32x16.
